Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Went to Tampa/Philly tonight. 3 on 3 OT is mayhem. Philly was given their second penalty shot of the game in OT, and Garrison goes all defenseman and dekes Mason 5 hole on a breakaway to win it. More of this new OT, please.

This game also had a "playing with an illegal stick" penalty for Philly. How? A Philly player lost his stick near the boards, and it kind of lingered on a Tampa players back. Another Philly player grabs hold of it, and gets whistled for possessing 2 sticks. First time I've seen that, may be the only time.

Just a weird, weird game. 2 penalty shots, this penalty, first time seeing 3 on 3 OT...

If there is a harder working player out there than Parise let me know. Took that team on his shoulders tonight with a hat trick after they were down 4-1 to the Avs. Unbelievable.

I'm ALMOST ready to forgive him for his college choice - maybe a couple more seasons of this kind of play and I'll be there.;)

Glad I didn't listen to the wife and go to bed after the 2nd period last night. :D

Nice comeback. With an added bonus of doing it against Roy and his *****es.

Second game and second time Bernier lets the first shot get by him.

Only 80 games to go!

It's not fun to watch, yet I do. Whatever Shanahan does, keep the kids down with the Marlies. Do not let them get infected.

Wings announcers were discussing just that. Of tonight's active lineup, just four Red Wings had NOT been drafted by the Wings. Of the Maple Leafs lineup, just four players HAD been drafted by the Maple Leafs. They talked about the importance of home grown talent and how the culture needed to change in Toronto, and Shanahan and Babs can help make the difference.

Absolutely correct....I just hope that it happens in my lifetime.

One of my boys wondered on Facebook last night if it's too soon to start #TankforMatthews. I countered they need to tank for a goalie that can stop a beachball!

It's so ridiculously fun even my grumpy old traditionalist soul likes it.

All I ask is get rid of the 3-point game and if the OT ends in a tie then it's a tie. We can un-ruin* the NHL pretty easily.

(* and contract back to 21...)

3 points for a win in regulation. A win playing real hockey should be worth more than the gimmicks.

There will never be contraction. The union and the owners won't stand for it. Expansion? At $500+ million a team? And it's not HRR? Kalamazoo, here we come!
