Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!
I was looking back at The506 Twitter feed (great site that breaks down TV market blackouts during broadcast sports, BTW) and found an interesting tid-bit. For all the synergy, cohesiveness, and whatever other buzzwords for togetherness that the NHL wants for their broadcasts, there seems to be one key sticking point:
Rogers is starting to avoid simulcasting the NBC feed of games.
Last Wednesday, they simulcast the USA-Network feed of Rangers/Penguins. CBC had their own crew for the other two games.
Thursday: Rogers simulcasts CNBC and NBCSN games on Sportsnet and SN360 respectively. CBC has their own crews.
Friday: SN360 airs Islanders local and Sportsnet airs Blues local broadcast. CBC with their own crews.
Saturday: Sportsnet airs Stars local. CBC has two crews. CBC also simulcasts NBC Penguins/Rangers game.
Sunday: Sportsnet airs Islanders local and Unknown what they did for the late game.
Sportsnet simulcast the NBC feed for the Blues/Hawks.
Tonight, Sportsnet again picks up the Stars local feed.
I just find it surprising that Sportsnet is getting the rights to the Fox Sports broadcasts over the NBC/Comcast games.
