Now Mother, we are Canada: The Settlers. We don't cotton to sending any of our teams to these new-fangled Stanley Cup Playoffs. We have teams whose power plays bite the big one. Our goalies allow the opposition to go five-hole more often than a drunken coed slut at a frat party during Rush Week. We're Canada: The Settlers.

My wife will be in Naples, Fla for work this week. She's contemplating trying to make it up for game one.

Cross-posted to the Dead thread, but Flyers owner Ed Snider has lost his battle with cancer.

Snider, the Flyers’ chairman and the man who helped bring the NHL to Philadelphia in 1967, died at age 83 at his home in California.

"He fought his last years, months and days with courage and grace and recounted his love for many including his Flyers family and fans," his children said in a joint statement released Monday morning. "We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community, his friends and all those who were fortunate to have been touched by him in some way, large or small."

I don't mind the later start time as much as when the first game runs over and they won't switch to my game.

I missed almost an entire game a year or two ago when the first game went double OT. They didn't even show the Hawks game during the intermission.

It gets better when you live in the Eastern Time Zone. Those games are going to run to 12:30 local even if they end in regulation. I had a test the day after the 3OT game a couple years ago. It was awful.

The NHL, having not done any thing stupid in a month or two, is banning anyone from posting gifs on social media.

@FriedgeHNIC: Latest GIF update: I'm told the NHL has not changed its stance on them, there is no ban and no plans for a ban during playoffs...
