NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Kinda funny how much difference a year can make. Last year, Mrazek ends the year preparing to dethrone Howard for starting goalie. This year, Mrazek has been the starter until his recent struggles, while Jimmy has come back around and been playing pretty well. That said, I'm nervous as hell with Jimmy in net.

Keith suspension is just more proof that NHL player safety is a joke. If he were a player like Porter from the Wild for example and had that history? 12 games. You want to swing your stick at someone's face be a star player and get a slap on the wrist.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

How do teams still have a 2+ difference in games played this late in the season? This is mostly me complaining as a Wings fan annoyed that they're going to miss the playoffs, but it's ridiculous the Islanders and Flyers will only be at 77 GP after today while the Wings sit at 79.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

I was thinking through this scenario, and not likely to ever happen: A player gets into a bit of jaw jacking, turns his back to head to his bench, and then other player attacks. If the player heading back to his bench, turns, picks up the attacking player and slams him into the ice head first, how is the NHL likely to mete out punishment to either player? In its seemingly arbitrary way of handling these situations, it's probably impossible to answer this. Not that it's really worth serious consideration regardless, just something that's been running through my head.

The Isles-Flyers had a game vs each other postponed because of snow

That would do it.

The Wild's schedule was wonky this year. Spent most of the season with 3 or 4 games in hand, then suddenly most had a game in hand against them. There were a lot of 4 or 5 day breaks in the beginning. Lately it seemed like back to backs happened every week.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Wild could have clinched a playoff spot tonight with a win, but they decided it wasn't that important.

Also, Montreal recalled John Scott.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

If I'm reading the standings right, it looks like the Wings might actually mess around and make the playoffs after all.

Still probably going to get bounced in the first round....

Approximate chances to miss the playoffs: BOS - 60%, PHI - 30%, DET - 10%

I know the whole point of the playoff structure is to create rivalries, but if the current standings hold it would be Tampa again. I don't know if I can hate them, especially while Yzerman is there.

Wings clinch with a win of any kind against Boston.

They sure fooled me 3 weeks ago when they sneezed and started to leak down their leg.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Yeah, but Philly has a game in hand. The Wings are probably going to have to do this on their own.
