Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

Would it be wrong to suggest silicone ice?

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

I liked the boston fans tribute and patriotism. but usa chant is implying fans think this was a foreign terrorist act as opposed to a citizen.

I don't think I'd take it that way. It seems more to me like, "We're America. We're together. We're Strong."

Great anthem btw.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

LA's the 2nd largest market in the US. They have 2 hockey teams, both of them good right now.

So yeah, by all means, they should have an outdoor game in LA, charge a lot of money and make a lot of money. It's like the NHL is a business or something.

If the odds are less than 75% that the ice will either be ideal and/or not forced to be played with deplorable ice conditions - it's a bad idea.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Recently picked up the 96 World Cup of Hockey games (all 4 games) between USA & Canada on DVD.

I'm watching the preliminary round matchup and 20 seconds in, Tkachuk & Lemieux (Claude) have paired off and Guerin & Primeau also. Awesome!

This is my favorite international tourney that the US has played in and it's so intense. These two teams were not only trying to win the games, but they were trying to beat the other into submission. The hits are numerous and brutal.

Was played under NHL rules, so fighting and everything else was part of the game.

Of course I enjoy the tourney in large part due to the fact that we took 3 out of the 4 games. The championship is still one of my favorite games that I ever watched.

Back to it as I only have, oh, another hour or so of my lunch break left. :)

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

I don't think I've ever heard a US crowd do that before. I started crying as soon as Rene Rancourt put his mic down. That was amazing.
I feel like there was a PC game where that happened during Army's first season where the mike stopped working and we all filled in. Not anywhere near as awesome of course...

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

How epic would it be for Toronto to lose out and not make the playoffs? I kinda like them this year but it would be hilarious to see their fans reactions.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

So, if tonight's Bruins game gets postponed/cancelled due to the manhunt underway, it will be the third time during this already shortened season that it happened. Has any other NHL had to deal with postponing/cancelling games??

The Saints had to play an entire season on the road.

I'm sure the Bruins will manage. It's just a game and these athletes can adapt.

But that's different. They knew going into that season and they didn't cancel any of the games. Based on the shortened, tightened up NHL season, there isn't any time to really re-schedule and it is possibly screwing up potential playoff positions. I'm not worried about the team, though given the re-scheduled game from February, which is on Tuesday, and the one from this past Monday, they have many more games to play in a shorter amount of time. It's a bit of an unfair advantage. Would they change the start dates of the playoffs if necessary?
