NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Russo says that the Wild could not come to a lease agreement with the Rockets, and the Wild will be moving the Aeros to Des Moines. Loved going to Wells Fargo Arena for Wolves games vs the Iowa Stars. Should be great to have your affiliate just a car ride away. And road trips will be easier from the Cities.

Until the Wild are out west and need to get a player from Iowa to them asap. Houston made flights to anywhere very easy. Cornfield Municipal Airport isn't going to be as easy.

Des Moines airport is not Houston, but it's not Cornfield Municipal either. (I can't believe I'm defending anything in Iowa:o).

What will that do to the USHL team?
The Buccaneers play in their own facility. When I travelled to Iowa for a few games, a lot of the Iowa Stars fans were also big fans of the Buccaneers.

Travel will be a concern, are there daily flights from Des Moines to MSP? May be able to just spend some time connecting flights.

A quick look at the Des Moines International Airport website shows that there are regular daily flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Washington DC, Dallas, Denver, Newark, Detroit, Charlotte, Minneapolis, and Phoenix. I don't think it will be a problem.

I'm honestly kind of surprised at that selection. Pretty good.

The AHL is looking like it will have a whole new landscape next year. I'm pretty sure that Peoria is moving as well. Who knows who might be next.

If you're not from Iowa, you give the place zero credit.. If you are from Iowa, you cue the, "is this heaven? No. It's Iowa." quote. :p

You must not have driven through Nebraska?:p

Lugnut, all in good fun. I'm not really one of the "I hate ISU" Hawkeyes.

I did drive in Nebraska. Only to Lincoln, though. The difference is that with the higher speed limit, I was more inclined to look at the road. Granted, both speed limits are higher than NYS, but at that point in the trip, I was used to 70 MPH.

EDIT: Oh, and it was dark out, too. That helped.

My now 25 year old son was 6 or 7 when we drove across Iowa on the way to Colorado. His favorite saying? "More corn?" :D

Iowa -- where you can watch your dog run away for two days!

At least Nebraska has some elevation changes, especially the farther west you go.
