Not too surprising the attempt failed. It would have been impossible for him to lift the puck, hence Rask only had to cover the bottom of the goal. NHL goaltenders these days are pretty much able to cover the bottom of the goal post-to-post.

Reminded me of a game called “ringuette” that I used to see in Canada, mainly Quebec, played primarily by girls. It was played on skates, with straight sticks (basically a hockey stick shaft with no blade). Instead of a puck, they used a ring. The players controlled the ring by putting the end of the stick inside the ring.

We used to do that on the pond 40 years ago. Sorry if being old school offends, but to see it in the NHL, even if it was in the shootout, just doesn't work for me.

On a side note, I have never seen Noora Räty - she certainly is not bad to look at. Gotta love Finns

Here's the hit from the Duck's broadcast...credit to them for not going homer on it, saying it should be a 5 before they called it a 5.
