Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

I am sure shan finds some excuse for no suspension.

You mean he's told to find an excuse for no suspension.

If you actually think Shanny has much say in disciplinary hearings for high-profile players, I've got oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you. ;)

Assuming Zucker pulls through, Fairy should get five games for that. I'm guessing he gets a fine.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Blake Geoffrion has informed the Habs he's contemplating retirement per numerous sources. :(

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Blake Geoffrion contemplating retirement. Father Danny says he has notified the Canadiens of a pending decision.

"It's being blown up all over the place, but all Blake did was call (Canadiens general manager) Marc Bergevin and put him on notice that there is a possibility he might have to retire due to the injury he suffered to his head, the trauma to the brain," Danny Geoffrion said. "So he hasn't retired. I'm not saying he's not going to (retire). He just put the Canadiens on notice that it's a possibility."

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Realignment is a done deal. Detroit and Columbus to the East, Winnipeg to the West.

Two conferences, each with two divisions. 8 teams per division in the East, 7 per division in the West. Playoffs are top three teams in each division plus two wildcards for each conference.

I really like the Central division. As a fan of a handful of players on each team, it will be nice to see the Wild, Hawks, Blues and Jets come to Colorado. I'll definitely be more inclined to go to games knowing I can see a UND alum in quite a few potentially meaningful games.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

That's why this alignment is only for two years. Plenty of time for Levin to buy Phoenix and put it in Seattle, award Hamilton and Quebec City expansion teams, and move Detroit and Columbus back West.

We'll take Detroit back, but please keep Columbus.

If another must be sent west, how about the Leafs? (yeah, yeah, I know it won't ever happen...)

The thought crossed my mind to have it be the Leafs moving instead of Columbus.
And from looking at the handy graphic NHL.com put together:

Seeing it visually colored out... it's even simpler.

Move Colorado to the Starbucks Division (Pacific). Move Tampa Bay and Florida to the Caribou (Central). That gives you 16 Western Conference teams. You can move Phoenix anywhere you want geographically West of I-65. In the now vacant Tim Horton's division (Northeast) you have room for two expansion teams. The Dunkin' Donuts (Atlantic) division is left untouched.

Digging those division names.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Hawks back on track. Whew!

That was a much tougher 2 pts than it should have been. Still getting teams' best shots.

Kaner with another sick shootout goal.

EDIT: I know we all hate shootouts, but here it is anyway.
