Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Is Shanahan going to do a video explaining why he suspended those 4 for getting in before him?

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Wideman to Calgary, signs for 5.25M per.
Suter will be given keys to a bank.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Red Wings out of Schultz sweepstakes. I have a feeling that they are not exactly front runners for Parise or Suter either. Could this year end their playoff run?

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Backing out on Schultz does not surprise me. He's an unknown at the pro level and believes he should do no time in the minors, neither of which is appealing to Ken Holland.

I doubt Parise signs here either. Rumor is that he's bound for PIT to be on Crosby's wing.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

I think Suter ends up in Detroit if Holland understands that a $70 million cap and Dennis Wideman making $5.25 per season means Suter's an $8 million D-man. He's never really had to pay full price for an elite FA before.

Will the Cap stay at 70 Million?

Doesn't matter right now. If Holland tries telling Suter "We're only offering $6.2 because the cap will probably go down", Minnesota or whoever will have a fine new #1 D-man.

We can only hope. :p

For what its worth, Lou Nanne has publicly said here in MN, that the Wild will not be outbid for Parise. If he goes somewhere else, he's going there for less money. The Wild are willing to top any bid by any other team. I guess that's something.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

That's a lot of uninsured cash. Nothing past 7 years for any NHL contract, and probably either uber expensive or partially covered before that with Crosby's issues.

Thoughts from Bob McKenzie;

If Crosby deal is 12 or 13 yrs, gotta figure last 2 or 3 yrs are "bogus" and it's likely a 10-yr deal for about $100M.

I say "bogus" in the sense if a $10M player wants to play for $2M or $3M in his final yrs, more power to him. But structure is to < cap hit.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 28, 2012

Quick and the Kings agree to a 10 year extension.

It's like what the Islanders tried to do with DiPietro, except that Quick actually proved that he's good enough to justify a contract that long and doesn't get hurt all the time.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

The difference is, Quick won the Cup before landing said contract. So he could be constantly injured for the rest of his career and still be remembered by the 1,000 or so diehard Kings fans as the guy who finally brought the Cup to LA.

Is there honestly anyone worth a **** after Parise as far as forwards go on the market this year?
