Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

I thought at one time there was a max salary, as well as a cap?

There is the cap, which is why Suter may not be able to join Parise wherever he goes. But I think he's holding out to see if he can.

20% of the total cap. So $14.04 million per year cap hit.

One thing is clear - Shea Weber is going to get about $11 gajillionty from someone next year.

It seems likely to me now that Suter will try to sign wherever Parise does. If he was "leaning towards" Detroit, surely he would've agreed to terms today.
It was lame when LeBron James did it and it's lame now.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Sidney Crosby may have garnered a one minute special if he tried something like LBJ's decision. Parise wouldn't even get 30 seconds on The Ocho.
But he'd get 30 minutes on TSN (except on Friday nights during the summer).

Jaromir Jagr reportedly to Dallas, 1 year, $4.5 million.

I was going to say that's a massive overpayment, but for a team thin at forward like the Stars, that's not godawful. If he can play some decent minutes and post about 60 points, I'd give it a pass.

They're going to sign Arnott next and put him next to Jagr and Whitney. Dallas Stars hockey: Only allowed to be awesome in 1999.

That line sure would have been productive in 1999! :D

I really don't use Twitter and don't know if this is a real tweet or a even a legit handle:

Brian Lawton ‏@brianlawton9

Sorry about late night ...... Just back in town. Not sure yet on Parise but word is Ryan Suter will be playing for the MN Wild next season!

Someone else claimed his agent said a decision would be announced today.
