Need and value. I just looked at six different mocks and five had him in the top 10 and one had him at 13. Love the pick.

I mean, I guess you can guarantee that at least one QB on your roster probably won't be nailing an unwilling drunk 20 year old in a bar restroom. But he kind of makes up for that with his lack of NFL throwing skill.

Edit: Thankfully Hobart isn't around anymore, or this would be Matt Jones mk2

Mock drafts are meaningless...how many had Tebus going this early or Denver trading down like 127 times...listening to mock drafts is like listening to John Gruden...it gives you a headache and you are no better off than you were before :D

(that is not a comment on the big dumb idiot from Iowa yoou drafted...that mouthbreather could be awesome for all I know)

I think Clausen asked NFL execs not to draft him until Saturday so he gets more time with Erin...

A thought on Clausen falling so far in the draft: Are his two infractions with the law (2007 and 2009) impacting his desirability due to the Big Ben effect?

The 2007 thing was a crime about 90% of people his age are guilty of, what's the 2009 thing?

True, but 90% of people his age aren't potentially going to be NFL QBs.

In 2009, he was in an "altercation" (though it sounds like he got his butt kicked) outside a pub in South Bend. Rumored to have to do with his gf.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. I think he was more of the victim in that case, but maybe some teams see it as an issue.

As for the underage drinking stuff, I'm sure Brees, Rivers, Brady, etc. all did their fair share of boozin back in college, and they all turned out fine. Now you could argue that at least they were smart enough not to get their picture taken all over the place, but hey what can you do?

Continue to fall further down the draft list (and sign a smaller contract)...and listen to the guys on NFL Network marvel at the fact that you were such a hot commodity and wonder why you aren't being drafted.

I'm not picking on him, I could care less what happens to him (I highly doubt my team will be picking him up, but I do wonder if he's falling victim to what's going with Big Ben... If you notice, every guy interviewed in the first part of the round was talking about being a strong player and a strong leader (and their strong characters were all noted).

I dont care that the Vikes traded their pick...anyone they want will be there in the spot they draft tomorrow.

Yeah, I mean I'm certainly not a Clausen fan, and took great pleasure in seeing him fail at Notre Dame, but I'm also usually skeptical of teams who put character so far ahead of talent. Although, with Commissar Goodell ruling with an iron fist these days, you can't be too careful.
