NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Crazy story. As others have said you'd think a billionaire wouldn't bother with a yanky cranky shop.

Also, reports are out there that he's not the biggest name involved.
Are these bigger names associated with pro sports?

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Schefter is reporting on the "other, bigger names" story and isn't saying more than they're bigger and "prominent names down here", whatever that means.

If this whole ridiculous story doesn't make you laugh, I'm not sure we can be friends.

QFT.

Official law enforcement is only one of Kraft’s problems, though, and for his grade of billionaire as-shole, it might actually be the lesser of them. He’ll also likely have a reckoning with America’s bumblingest dick-tripping clown judiciary, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s league office. You can be sure that’s gonna be a big ol’ exploding-port-a-john type of deal.

If there’s no particularly good way for the commissioner’s office of a sports league to adjudicate prostitution—and there isn’t!—there are any number of bad ways. You may be thinking that seems like a compelling argument for the league office to stay the hell out of this. You’re right! However, the single defining claim of Goodell’s tenure as commissioner is that the league office must litigate each and every instance of lawbreaking by anybody even interpretively connected to the league. Well, here you go.

See, now if Kraft just went to Nevada and got a beej...but nope. Had to illegally solicit, and if that wasn't bad enough, it was a trafficking operation. That's just a smidge worse. He won't be in (official) control of the team next year. He'll have to at least cede control, if not sell the team outright.

If Liam Neeson doesn't kill him first, of course.

Goodell’s Call

Love it

There is almost zero chance he is forced to sell the team. He’ll be fined a quarter million and probably have a finger shaked at him.

There is precedent in the NFL (DeBartolo w/the 49ers when he got busted for a felony corruption charge) and the CAR owner who had a hostile workplace.

DeBartolo, $1 mil fine and suspended for a year.
Car owner Jerry Richardson, $2.75 mil fine.

To be forced to sell the team the approval of 23 owners is needed. That ain't happening.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

The only way the owners come down on one of their own is if he's hated so much they are willing to set up a precedent that even they can be disciplined in order to get rid of him.

I don't know if Kraft is hated.

Forced to sell for a happy ending. I doubt that

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

The NFL will likely fine him and have him hand over control to his son (who I believe already is in charge of the Revs).

Although it’ll be fascinating if MLS or US Soccer will punish him (though I seriously doubt it).

Jim Irsay was suspended 6 games and fined $500k for DUI in 2014. Goodell hates Kraft, so it might be 8 games and $750k.
