Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

The Colts Bengals challenge today was hilarious.

Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

Patriots trade Jimmy Garropolo to 49ers for second round draft pick.

They now have one QB on the roster.

Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

Feels like the 49ers got a bargain on that, wasn't a 1 on the table from the Browns before the draft?

A 1 was reported to have been offered but I think Belichick had enough of Brissett and was in the process of trading him. Garoppolo is an unrestricted FA at the end of the year and Belichick wasn't foolish enough to tag him for $20 mil to hold a clipboard.

So SF has a rental and BB resigns him in the summer.

GLA isn't going away anytime soon. Garoppolo will resign with a team looking to use a QB with some alleged, though unproven talent, who's allegedly matured much more than the average rookie/2nd-year QB making his first career start.

Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

You want to risk $24 million franchising an unproven commodity?

but there should be no rush in giving Garoppolo a long-term deal because he's in line to make just $434,158 more over the rest of the season. The Niners also can easily franchise Garoppolo in 2018 at a price that will exceed $23 million, given that general manager John Lynch should have in excess of $100 million in room after carrying over $60 million in unused space from this season's cap.

Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

Panthers trade Kelvin Benjamin to the Bills for a 3rd and 7th.

I didn't know Carolina was throwing in the towel on the season at 5-3.

Re: NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

Bengals trade AJ McCarron to the Browns.

Well, scratch that. They tried to trade him to the Browns, but the Browns were too busy celebrating and forgot to call the league to approve by the deadline. No deal.

Benjamin isn't that good so getting something for him isn't the end of the world.

Apparently the coaching staff is going nuclear right now because they wanted to pull the trigger on Garoppolo yesterday, but the front office had left for the day at 5 PM.
