That was one of the weirder endings of an NFL game that I've seen. Almost Munichesque.

So the Jets and Dolphins are playing on Fox today. Has anyone ever noticed an all AFC game on Fox or an all NFC game on CBS before? There doesn't seem to be any stories about why they are doing this. Maybe it has something to do with the ratings issues?

It's something about which conference is the home team, and its association with the networks. The visiting team doesn't matter, IIRC.

when a network loses an extra game they are allowed to pick one to flex over. chiefs and raiders would have been cbs. bills and patsies are at home so they are going to fox this week (what brent said. road teams follow their network). so to even it up they started letting the network with bare cupboards pick a game (but not the marquee).

I'm watching Panthers and Bears on CBS right now, so uhhhhh, yeah I have no clue why.

Edit: After a little googling it seems the answer is...because the NFL wanted to. They have for a couple years and call it "cross-flex" games. They were announced when the schedule was announced.

Very strange. I wonder if eventually they open it up to more than just CBS and Fox. Maybe it could be kind of like how the NCAA tourney is broadcast? I was just looking and Giants-Seahawks is on CBS as well.

Edit: It seems like this is the kind of thing that could really **** off fans. I read that Miami fans are getting screwed today because the local Fox affiliate is showing Tampa Bay instead where that is who is usually on and they market themselves as the home for the Buccaneers.

Miami pulls one out of their arse, along with Buffalo. Some crazy endings this week in the NFL.

Thank you for this explanation.
