yeah, that is probably the biggest problem with NO. I loved visiting there and checking out stuff, the food, etc...but the smell of urine is not a redeeming quality...

The New York Jets come in at #24 on this list. The Jets joined the American Football League in 1960 as the New York Titans, but after three nondescript seasons, changed their name to the Jets. Gang Green struggled early, but attained their most significant success in the late 1960's. In 1968, AFL MVP Joe Namath led the Jets to the AFL Championship before stunning the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III in arguably the greatest upset in Super Bowl history. Namath won another AFL MVP in 1969, and the Jets won their second consecutive AFL East title, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFL Playoffs. Following the AFL-NFL merger, New York struggled, failing to make their first NFL Playoff appearance until 1981, and didn't win a division championship until 1998. In fact, the Jets have only 4 division championships in their 57 seasons of professional football, the fewest of any Super Bowl champion. The Jets did advance to AFC Championship games in 1982, 1998, 2009, and 2010, but have not appeared in the Super Bowl since Super Bowl III, the longest such streak for any team that has appeared in a Super Bowl. Under current coach Todd Bowles, the Jets had a promising 2015 campaign, but struggled mightily in 2016. When we returned from our recent trip to New Orleans, a friend who has never been there asked us about the City. I told her I've always thought of New Orleans as the love child of Savannah, Georgia, and circa 1972 Times Square.

That doesn't capture the genuine warmth of N.O., though. Savannah is a proper Southern town, like Charleston or Durham. The people there are not particularly warm, at least by southern standards.
New Orleans is what you'd get if you took the poorest county in Mississippi and drowned it in alcohol, hookers, and musicians.

As a matter a fact I have Slappy, and I even took a stroll around the Lower 9th Ward. Perhaps being somewhere interesting is too overwhelming for you hayseeds.
You sound like the guy out here who was trying to tell us Omaha was the balls and the NCAA hockey tournament should go there. 
Since I spend most of my time in the French Quarter and the Garden District, I can't say the city was too different before and after Katrina with the notable exception once again of the Lower 9th Ward.
As a matter a fact I have Slappy, and I even took a stroll around the Lower 9th Ward. Perhaps being somewhere interesting is too overwhelming for you hayseeds.

That's interesting. The natives I have talked to who lived there before and since have all said it's completely different now and that something very important has been lost. It's still a great city but it's like an uprooted tree.

I was spending time with a native who lives just outside the French Quarter near Louis Armstrong park. Yes its different if you live there but from a tourist perspective they've cleaned up all the areas you'd visit even when I was there in 2009 maybe?

While much of Omaha is a pretty typical example of a bland, boring midwest city, the Old Market area restaurants, bars and shops are fun, and the College World Series is a spectacular time, especially the pre-game and between game tailgating and bar hopping, and should be a bucket list item for anyone who calls themselves a sports fan.Yes that Applebee's they opened downtown makes all the difference.

I'm not afraid of a little dirt, culture, etc., etc. Just saying NO is far more than the FQ and it went sadly downhill after Katrina. Still ignores the fact I don't root for teams in the SB based upon whether or not I'd want to live someplace. Although your existence possibly explains why so many people hate the Patriots so maybe there's something to it...
