Re: NFL 2015: Let's Talk About Balls

Not sure how, but fine by me if they were.

Thought it was a good example of knowing your target and appealing to their triggers.

Doubt they made that spot up out of nothing. My guess is that the gist of it came from interviewing Budweiser drinkers (market research) and asking them why they drink Bud as opposed to micros.

"Let them drink their Pumpkin Peach Ale." :D

My point is everyone involved in the creation of the spot, from the ad execs themselves to the creative people to the money men to the focus testers, think the people who buy their product are morons. The people who create "anti-elitsm" screeds are elitists. They just have an unusually low opinion of Joe Six Pack, even for elitists. :p

If they were just a bit more cynical they'd be GOP politicos.

Re: NFL 2015: Let's Talk About Balls

The game earned a 49.7/72 - both records. In both Boston and Seattle the game drew an 89 share. 89% of TVs were tuned into the Super Bowl...which makes me wonder what else people were watching....

There are plenty of single women households, you know. And not being sexist by saying that women don't like football, a lot of them do. But a lot of them don't, also.

Re: NFL 2015: Let's Talk About Balls

I liked the Red Sox before I lived in Boston and met Red Sox Fan. (I never lost my liking for the Bruins -- Bruins Fan is actually a totally different animal, as if he wasn't from Boston at all and came from NH or Maine.) But there are no Patriots fans; without the championships the Patriots have the natural dedicated fan base of the Marlins. So those of us who hate Boston don't even hate Patriot fan -- we just mock her as the girlfriend who decides to follow whichever team is winning every year. 5 years after Brady retires the team will probably have relocated to Fresno.

Not true. We suffered through the Plunkett years, the Grogan years, the Eason years(ugh) and god help us, the Bledsoe years(Did ever a guy do so little with so much talent?). Schaefer/Foxboro/Gillette has always been pretty much a sellout. We'll probably suffer through the post Belichek/Brady years. But we'll have four, maybe more, Super Bowl victories, and the memories of the greatest quarterback of all time to look back on. You'll have Pete dimbulb Carroll.

Puppy bowl and Airplane versus Volcano!
No puppy bowl this year, I think...

Pretty sure Kepler will have those Joe Montana memories too...

I love how people say there were no Patriots fans pre-Brady when in reality there were no Patriots fans pre-Bledsoe. Get the player right, at least.

Lazy. :D

You know if it weren't for Pete, we would not have had BB as coach and perhaps these 4 Super Bowl wins. He was so vilified by fans here when I was in the stands in his last season here after loss after loss. Not only did he gave NE last night SB win but the other 3 too in a way. You may hate or dislike BB but he pays attention to detail and the organization does not tolerate bad behavior from its players. I don't always agree with BB on his moves and personel moves but compared to PC, he is a much better coach and the body of work reflects it. 4 SB wins and many divisional titles and AFC titles.

PC is a good coach but he has no control over that team and it shows with their lack of class in and after or before games. How sweet was it for us to see Sherman's reaction after that Butler pick ?? Baldwin taking a dump in the end zone after a TD ) real classy

Then at USC he won an NCAA but he also left a program wracked by that scandal and lost all those scholarships. It took USC a long time to recover from that.

Hey, some of us remember Stanley Steamer, Mosi's Mooses and Steve Grogan; 1-15, Dick McPherson and the first owner who sold razors. Now we're enjoying the fruits of our years of misery. That everyone else hates us and considers us "bandwagon fans" or "spoiled" by all this success just shows their ignorance and makes our time at the top more sweet.

truth be told this is the only bellicheat SB with his guys. many of the guys he won with in the other cheating years were guys he inherited (or say other guys bought the groceries). he coached them but didn't have much to do personnel wise building the team.

Didn't Grogan and Eason get you to the Super Bowl?

Re: NFL 2015: Let's Talk About Balls

When Collinsworthless is bewildered by your play call....you in trouble.

Honestly? I'd take Collinsworth over the vast majority of his contemporaries.

Then again, I'd prefer coverage with one play-by-play, one tactical analyst who speaks about 30% as much as a normal color commentator, no sideline reporters and about 15% the overall media presence on the field, including all media personnel off the field entirely until 5 minutes after the game ends. So it kind of doesn't matter what I think of TV coverage, since my ideas would never fly. That self-important media paid good money to cover the game, so if they want to swarm players until they need to crowdsurf to go shake hands after the Super Bowl ends, that's how it's gotta be.
