Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Watch them get the first pick, then fail to hand it in on time again.

Ever seen a GM fired on the spot?
Thats the thing. The Vikings are so ****ed up that they don't have a GM, they have some stupid braintrust of 4 people that makes all of the decisions. Its no wonder why they are so dysfunctional.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Following teams do NOT have GMs:
1. Patriots
2. Cincinnati
3. Raiders
4. Vikings

This is the first year ever the Steelers had a GM

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

I don't think Dallas does, either. If it's anyone other than Jerry Jones, that's news to most of the world.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

You'll get a one way ticket to Toronto and like it.

What's with people's obsession with wanting to rid the league of Buffalo? I don't see people wanting to move the Sabres. When Green Bay stunk years ago, I didn't hear people say "Let's move them to Milwaukee." The team is being kicked enough as it is.

Yeah, but you can't use the Packers or their fans as examples for anything. Green Bay fans would deny it until the day they die that the Packers ever stunk. They've always been the best team in the NFL.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

So who tanks harder: The Colts or the Jags?

The Colts to get Luck and the Jags to prevent Luck from going to the Colts.

Maybe if they leave you will stop *****ing about them in every other post. It is especially annoying this year when Buffalo isn't anywhere close to the worst team in the league.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Mel Kiper says the Colts lock it up if they lose on Sunday. I'm not entirely sure this is correct. If all the Vikings opponents win their remaining games and the Colts opponents lose theirs, they could potentially swap places in the draft.... right?

We say we're the best historically but most Packer fans I know freely admit how horrible the club was in the 70s and 80s.

Our arrogance tends to be in the form of how well we support the team even when we're terrible.

Go 10+ years without sniffing the playoffs and come talk to me. That's why I'm really rooting for the Lions to get over the top this year.

Hmmm... Most of the Packer fans I know when asked about the years they blew tend to have a witty response along the lines of "How are those Vikings doing?" or "How many SUper Bowls have you won?" or "How's that Christian Ponder doing?"

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

If Gabbert and Orlovsky are the starters, how do you tell if they're tanking?

Good point.

I'm guessing it won't come from the players so much as the coaching decisions. You see someone running on third and long? Yeah... Probably tanking.

Or the coaches are auditioning for jobs at LSU and Alabama.

No. If two teams tie for worst record, the team with the weakest schedule gets the top pick. Indianapolis has that one locked up. Similarly, if MN and St. Louis tie, MN gets the better pick for the same reason.

The vikings must lose out and hope Indianapolis wins their final game.

Err, I said that wrong. Swap Colts and Vikings in the second sentence of my original post.

I say let's have Mike Nelson/Joel Hodgson, Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot do play-by-play for the game. It may make it worth watching. :D

It's possible, but I'd rather just see the Colts beat Jax and let it happen that way. Rooting for a bunch of teams I don't like to win their games to catch Indy on this ridiculous tie-breaker just doesn't seem right to me.
