Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

I realize a penalty can end on an offensive penalty, but the result of the play was a touchdown, that result just disappears and the game is over because it was a offensive penalty?

A penalty can end on an offensive penalty?

:D

The only disappointing part of that game was that it was an idiot OL that blew the game and not Tony Bozo.

The Redskins had no business winning that game, but whatever. They won't make the playoffs anyways.

Can't hold any teams when it matters. No real offense. Very lack luster game all around except for that last drive.

There's the runoff regardless whether or not Washington accepts. Washington accepted the penalty, negating the TD, and then since there were under 10 seconds, the game is over...

At least that's how I understand it...

I think the mechanics of it are like this. 1. The play happens. Result: Touchdown. 2. Flag on the play. Washington accepts the penalty (obviously), TD wiped off, penalty assessed against Dallas. 3. So now it's 3rd and 20. 4. But there's no time left, so game over.

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

Did I just hear Herm Edwards say "Ray Charles could have seen that?"

There is no 10 second runoff for a penalty during play...the 10 second runoff is for a false start or something else that happens before the snap that would stop a running clock that otherwise would not have stopped (basically giving the offense a chance to get organized without the clock moving)....I guess I can accept WWM view of the situation.

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

Shanahan handled the trap question (were you surprised Dallas didn't take a knee at the end of the first half?) smooooooooooth as silk.

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

If I'm Johnson, next week when I make a catch I refuse to give the ball to an official. Just line up with it. Hey, have to maintain possession, right?

All I'm gonna say on this is there's a problem with the rules when that ISN'T ruled a touchdown.

Yeah that wouldn't draw a flag and a fine...

totally worth it

"Sorry, you failed to complete the process of fining me. I don't owe you."

Seriously, it's the Lions. What have we got to lose? Let's just spend the whole season screwing with Goodell.

All I'm gonna say on this is there's a problem with the rules when that ISN'T ruled a touchdown.

I'm all for this!!!

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

This rule was added before last season

So, if Drew Brees had thrown that pass to Calvin Johnson as a New Orleans Saint, it would have counted.

The funniest thing about that clip? The comically exaggerated "juggling" motion done by the referee to signify that he didn't think he had control of the ball.

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

Does this mean in a couple years that ref will apologize to the colts like they did to hasselback and the Seahawks?!?! :p

Re: NFL 2010 - Cap & Trade

No, they'll just change the rules...no need apologizing, just alter them to suit the Colts' needs going forward. Apologizing would mean their lips would have to separate from Peyton's anatomy...can't have that.

Can't wait 'til they rule that teams from Houston must start a QB named Carr in all games vs. Indy.
