And IIRC, Kolb is only 26 and has one year left on his contract. Young enough to be possible franchise, and has enough learning/experience to not be a scratch project.
You're not going to get him unless you give up a **** ton of assets. PERIOD. Philly needs a backup for vick and they have Kolb on the cheap. They're in a position of massive strength.

If they can get him on the cheap (meaning less than I figure in my previous post) I wont die if they make the move. He is young which I like but has a bit of experience and is a west coast style QB. He and Webb could have a healthy competition.
Webb could be good, the potential is there, but he is really really raw. He looked good for his first couple games, but a year of holding a clipboard could do him good.
It is so tough to say without knowing who will be GM, if there will be a new OC...etc. If Bevell is here I could see them making a move for Kolb because I think he would love a young QB like that who he could mold ya know? If not the new OC might like someone else, or they might like Webb. I think Frazier likes Webb which bolds well for him. I am more optimistic than I was about him but still dont think he is ready.
The more I think about Webb, the more I'd like to see them ride him next season if they can't get Luck or Mallet (again, they won't). I completely agree on McNabb.
That's where I'm getting at. Even if Kolb doesn't totally work out, the Vikes' base (AP, Sidney, Visanthe, Percy) are young enough where you hope Kolb teaches Webb enough where it's a smooth transition to the next era. If Kolb does work out, and Webb develops, gee, what a harsh horrid problem! And if Kolb works out, and Webb just doesn't come along, oh darn, you still have a long-term QB.
Yes I said the same thing if the price is right, I just said McNabb is a zero chance possibility. There is a better chance Favre is the QB and THAT WONT HAPPEN.
Well, to be fair, who thought Moss would be back in MN?
And given PHI's position, I could see a couple mid-round draft picks, or maybe a high round pick + a "prospect." If I was Wilf, price almost wouldn't matter. I'm not saying 2 first rounders, but I'd overpay a little to get Kolb.
Well with the 12 pick you may be right. Swap picks, give up a second and another pick the next year but then you need to be in negotiations for an extension for Kolb at least for a couple years. That is a lot to give up for 1 year, if you are trading you think he has a shot at being your franchise. You dont give up multiple picks for Crash Davis. If all you want is that there will be cheaper options out there.
I think that an extension would be a prereq for the Kolb trade.
If I were the Vikes, it would be. 1 year is no good. 3 years min, preferably 5 with some options.
Kolb will ask for 5, and a nice signing bonus since Webb will still be around and NFL contracts are a joke.
I don't think they can do that until they get a stadiumThe Vikings have no reason to go after Kolb unless it's for next to nothing. I don't care about his potential they need to draft a QB, let him compete with Webb and bring in a cheap veteran for justincase. It may not be ideal but wth is at this point? The Vikings have languished at QB for nearly 2 decades save a few bright years from Cunningham, Culpepper and Favre and even if it requires 1 rebuilding year the NFL has proven that savvy GM leadership can quickly turnaround an NFL team quickly if coupled with competent coaching. People whining about 'window of opportunity' fail to see the forrest for the trees. imho they are better off sucking it up for one year worst case scenario and reloading for the next year under the proper leadership if they draft right.
