Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Maybe the vikings actually have a case in regards to claiming that they need a new stadium...

am i missing something?? is there something going on that is no allowing the owner to go build a new stadium?

people and businesses go out and buy land and build all the time...

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Souhan mentioned it would take The U several days to get TCF ready for a game because it's been "shut down for the winter". Not sure what that means exactly.
They might want to get it back up and running. I doubt the dome will be fixed by the monday night chicago game.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I guess it didn't click that they had already shut it down. Makes sense now that I take off my stupid had for a second. They likely drain all of the "wet" pipes and whatnot. Seal the doors. Unload all the stock from the concession stands. Makes sense.

You & me both.

He's a sports owner, he wants others to pay for it. Duh. :D

A legit question was just raised here: why not get the Vikes to KC and play there? That way, you're only moving one team.

FOX Sports is my guess.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

The more I think about this, the more i realize the Dome is probably in emergency mode (outside of the obvious reason) right now. We're headed for sustained subzero temperatures. That cold air is being allowed to infiltrate the field. Unless they can seal that cold air from the inner portions of the dome, you have serious risk of pipes rupturing. Not good.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Last week the Vikings get one of the best in Kevin Harlan and now they get the worst in Joe Buck... Why does Fox continue with this unprepared, arrogant, terrible announcer?? Last time he did a Vikings game, he screwed up a lot of names...I'd rather have Brian Gumbel.

I see what you did there. Nice. :D

Yep... There is no way they could have brought the stadium back in 48 hours... Not to mention you would need time to figure out seating arrangements (what is Section 118 Row 35 Seat 4-7 in the Metrodome equal to in TCF) as well... Makes perfect sense as to why the game was moved to Detroit... I know it sucks at first glance, but there really wasn't another option...

Yeah, most of the owners are billionaires. They should easily be able to build it themselves with all of the bells and whistles they want.

i will give Krafty Bob credit for building his own when the state here told him to screw.. (well, they did build an interchange ramp over the 'highway' and widened the road. but he took care of the bulk.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

The NFL has failed every step of the way on this whole ordeal. It should be played in Minnesota. The Giants should be told to screw off, they can fly in the cold weather crap. The money shouldn't even be up for grabs. This is truly pathetic.

What's wrong with the Fargo Dome? ; )~

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Terry: Who gets the money for that game?
Curt: The league is still working on that.

Ummm, what? It's a Vikings home game, how the hell don't they get the money? Good God, **** the NFL. Seriously.

Things are so bad in Detroit they're lending out their dome for free?

Yeah, thats the way it should be done, owner should cover the stadium right on up to the curb. The road and other stuff can be taxpayer money.

I'm wondering if it's worth it? Just winterize it and be done until spring.

Zighy would probably prefer getting TCF up and running for the last 2 (?) home games and he could carry around a picture of the dome whenever he visits the state legislature. :D

Of course TCF offers its own unique challenges - sobriety at a Vikes game.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

This wouldn't have happened if the Vikings were sponsored by Viagra.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

TCF would not be a realistic option for a game today or tomorrow, but it might be for the remaining home games. They have beer taps installed, right?

No taps. But they could easily install portable ones in the mean time. However, the big problem is winterization. They never did it and it would post MAJOR problems. Trust me on this one.
