NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Hm, thanks. I've been wrongly assuming for years and years then.

Most publicly funded universities whose arenas or stadiums are on campus have rules in place about banning alcohol. If the public university's arena or stadium is off campus, it's up to the rules made within the facility's rental contract. THen with private schools, it's entirely their decision and/or the off-campus rental contracts.

You too? I'm not on Uverse (just have an antenna for over the air) and I've got the same issue.

Edit: Now seeing on Twitter that a transmitter gave out at the station and they have no power.
Well, this doesn't help either of us, but apparently Fox 47's HD feed is working fine. It's just their regular one that affects the most people that doesn't work. Morons.

Okay, that sounds pretty close to what I was thinking of. Didn't realize it was more of a public/private distinction though.

Just browsing during TV timeouts during the Packers/Lions so my apologies if this was answered earlier. How many times has this happened to the Metrodome? I remember one time for sure back in the early 80's a year or two after it opened.

Before the legislature in Minnesota butted in, the University had alcohol in suites at Mariucci, Ridder, and Williams Arena.

Deflations

Five times in the stadium's history, heavy snows or other weather conditions have damaged the roof and caused it to deflate. On November 19, 1981, a rapid accumulation of over a foot of snow caused the roof to collapse, requiring it to be re-inflated. It deflated the following winter on December 30, 1982, again because of a tear caused by heavy snow. This was four days before the Vikings played the Dallas Cowboys in the last regular season game of the 1982 NFL season. That same winter, on April 14, 1983, the Metrodome roof deflated because of a tear caused by heavy snow and the scheduled Twins' game with the California Angels was postponed. It was the only postponement in Metrodome history until 2007. On April 26, 1986, the Metrodome roof suffered a slight tear because of high winds, causing a nine-minute delay in the bottom of the seventh inning vs the Angels.

On December 12th, 2010, at about 5:00 a.m., the roof collapsed as a result of more than seventeen inches of snow the previous day, sustaining three tears in the process. The Vikings and the New York Giants had been scheduled to play a football game that afternoon. The game had already been postponed to Monday night due to the Giants' flight being stranded in Kansas City as a result of the Midwestern snowstorm. Due to the extent of damage to the roof, the NFL relocated the game to Ford Field in Detroit. Ticket-holders who could journey to Detroit were promised seats on the fifty yard line, while free tickets for the game would be given away at Ford Field on Monday morning.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Is anyone else getting a scrolling message during the Packers-Detroit game about the Vikings game being televised tomorrow night? It makes me think the game might be on here, but from what everyone else is saying the game will only be on in Minneapolis, Rochester and Mankato.

That's what has been announced by Fox, Minneapolis, Rochester(MN), Mankato, and NYC.

Its probably Fox scrolling it nationally instead of a local overlay. I'm guessing you need the DTV package to see it still.

But it isn't a Fox scroll I don't think. My TV goes out of HD when it scrolls across the screen, which is what happens when there are weather advisories. If it was a National Fox scroll, the TV would stay in HD I would assume. I'm still not convinced the game will be on here, but it seems strange.

Rodgers is out for the game with a concussion. So the Packers/Lions game may end up a scoreless tie.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Yep, 0-0 at halftime. Teams are a combined 0/13 on third downs as well. Reasonably sure McCarthy was drunk when he drew up this weeks gameplan.

I'll be interested to see if there is a fine for that hit. There is absolutely no way there should be, but based on some of the hits they have fined guys for it wouldn't necessarily shock me. Defensive guys get fined for talking about tackling QBs during Thursday position meetings.

Perhaps if Green Bay saw a 3rd down that required less than 10 yards...

Sam Rosen, "Tim, you can come back to the booth...I know you like to hang out with players, but come back up."

Quite the group of professional announcers...

That would probably require blocking without holding. That doesn't seem to be a part of today's gameplan.

Actually now that Flynn got halftime to really get set knowing he's going to play he may at least have a couple of scoring drives in him. They may simplify the gameplan and focus more on executing some basics which could actually help.
