NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I like the U of M stadium. It would feel like old time Minnesota football with it being outside. Maybe this could be the appeal for the outdoor stadium Ziggy wants.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

The NFL is saying that it is "exploring alternatives to play the game Monday night at the University of Minnesota stadium or another domed NFL stadium."

Assuming the Metrodome is not an option and Zygi (who has to be the happiest man in MN right now) allows this game to be played anywhere than TCF Bank Stadium he will never get a new facility in Minnesota.

Sounds like Indy, St. Louis or Detroit are options for moving the game. Nothing about TCF

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

This whole season has been so crazy that I shouldn't be surprised by anything, but once again I'm confused: The Vikings play out of Minneapolis. There's another similarly sized football stadium in Minneapolis. And they're looking into moving the game to Detroit?! Or Indianapolis or St. Louis?! They're considering playing 500 miles away instead of just down the street?

The Giants can't just go out and buy some cold-weather gear?

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

The collapse of the Metrodome is proof that God wants Favre's streak to continue.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

TCF is not similarly sized.

Metrodome is 60-70k
TCF is 35k

Dump is ~65K
TCF is ~51K

In my opinion the Vikes are much better off giving refunds to 15K ticket holders and playing a mile away rather than angering all ticket holders and playing in Detroilet or St. Louis.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

what does the u mn stadium seat? i'm guessing there will be some ticketholders that get money returned to them... that can't be good.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I thought I heard it seated 50K? My bad, then. They can't play there.

EDIT: Yeah, 51K. That is what they said on NFLN. Okay, thought I must've mis-heard it.

refunds?!?!?! ha. "you will be receiving a credit to the vikings.nfl.com/shop in the amount of your ticket price" :D

I guess they're setting up a conference call with Goodell. Between the Giants not having the appropriate gear/footwear and the Fox TV people already set up in Detroit for today's GB/DET game, it sounds like that's what people are expecting.

That's stupid. You're a NFL franchise. Buy the needed crap to play outdoors like men, and return it tomorrow if you're such friggin' cheapskates. Crazily enough, I think there might be "cold weather gear and footwear" in the city of Minneapolis.

Edit: If you've got time to fly to Detroit, you've got time for your supplies to be flown in from New York, too.

The Giants couldn't figure out it might be a good idea to fly in a day earlier I don't hold out hope their braintrust can transport their cold weather gear from Jersey to MSP in 24 hours.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

That's a lot more than I remember them wanting. I though they were making it small with room to expand to 50k.

Built at 50K with the ability to expand it to 80K - but not by tomorrow. ;)
One of the stadiums they looked at for ideas (UConn) during the planning phase may have been 30 with exansion to 60?

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

So instead of playing the game in front of a packed crowd (a home Vikings game outdoors? Awesome novelty!!!), they'll be playing the game in front of cheerleaders. Neato.

Less than that. The Lions don't have cheerleaders. I wonder if they'll just be giving away free tickets. "Come see two NFL teams on the field in Detroit at the same time! Only happened once since 1998!"
