Last time I checked there's a higher standard for owners then for players.

There is a select group of guys who can play in the NFL, the NFL also can't turn down these guys from playing: they have no other means of making money really.

That doesn't mean they should be allowed free reign. If you're making millions of dollars a year, I don't think it's too much to ask you refrain from running dog fighting rings or driving dunk multiple times. (I'm not saying you were saying that, just wanted to get it out, I'm sick of all of this "he served his time so he should be able to play" bull****. Just because the law is done with someone doesn't meanthe NFL has to accept them no questions asked, I think they can hold their players to a slightly higher standard.)

The NFL can always find enough rich guys/girls who want to own a piece of an NFL team, plus very few people own sports franchises to make money on them.

Can we find one of the ones who doesn't want in just to make money and replace Snyder with him/her?

Do they get free reign? Didn't Stallworth and Vick get punished?

Vick got punished while he was on trail and in prison, it's not like they could have played him anyways. To me the punishment should be never playing again, not some sit out three weeks BS.

There's no "right" to play football. There's just hypocrisy from owners worshiping the $$$ while trying out their moral high horse.

Al Davis was grandfathered in. And as bad as he is as an owner, last time I checked Rush Limbaugh has broken a lot more laws than Al Davis.

He's even with Fergie, and they approved her. She's even got the drug addicted past, and all sorts of fun comments, both in her songs, and just in general. Call it what it is. They don't want to deal with the race issues.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

All this said, if Limbaugh just sticked to be an owner as an owner and kept the political stuff to the political sphere, I wouldn't really care either way. Couldn't be worse than Snyder.

When was the last time you checked? And what, specifically, did you check? The Official Manual of Potentially Owning an NFL Team?

Do they get free reign? Didn't Stallworth and Vick get punished?

So the NFL is now responsible for metering acceptable amounts of justice for people may potentially be involved in the league? What was Limbaugh convicted for again? What crimes does he have on his record? Please remind us.

LOL. Best rationale ever.

Rush is thinking too small-time. He could buy the entire UFL if he wanted to. He should focus on that.

Yeah, he's just going to buy out Nancy Pelosi's husband's league... sure.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

That's a good point.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, b/c he's got credibility doing sports. I know I've seen more of him on ESPN than on all his later projects combined.

Come to think of it, I probably watched more ESPN when Olberman and Patrick were on than I have ever since...

If I wanted to find a site that included betting opportunities on various football games, for entertainment purposes only obviously, where should I go?

Well, for fun, centsports is a good distraction, which I believe is a baby-company for sportsbook.

I've only dealt with centsports, though.

And they deal with all sports.

watching the Giants-Saints game, I'm learning these things:

1. The Giants better find a way to stop the pass.

2. The Saints catch everything thrown to them.

3. Troy Aikman is very anti-Giants.

4. Better not tackle a guy from behind, it will be called a horsecollar, no matter where you grab him.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

I overthink/research fantasy football. Read up half a dozen places, they all say "bench Brees this week because the Giants are good/both teams will grind it out, etc."

Carson Palmer= 5 points thus far vs. crappy Houston
Brees= 20 points

Goddammit.

I'm not paying attention anymore.

Boy, the referees are having a terrible game on both sides of the ball.
