15 is 3 more than 12. That means three coaches are picking us to not finish last.

MORAL VICTORY!

actually 15 is 4 more than 11* So there could have been 4 coaches that voted MTU 10th, 1 coach that voted them 7th or some combination in the middle.

*11 is the minimum because coaches don't rank their own teams.

Right, if UND had gotten all the first place votes that they could have gotten, then they would be at 121, instead of being just one short of the max.

Do have to wonder who else voted for SCSU.

Or the other 11 coaches all had the same opinoin, and JR voted for Tech to finish 9th. I'm just saying...

It's depressing that I used to dream of Tech being one of the top 16 schools in the country but now even finishing in the top 10 of our own conference is a goal at the start of the season.

In a totally unrelated subject, with all this talk of a BI6TEN (see how I worked that six in there - always thinking ahead) hockey conference maybe that could lead to something like the WCHA and HE had in the early 80's where there was more interconference play. Maybe the newer / smaller WCHA and CCHA could combine their schedules. Play each team in both conferences twice. (9x2)+(8x2) gives you 34 games. Kind of cuts down your "out of conference" games, but assuming you played every team at home one year and one the road the next, that brings a minimum of 17 different teams into your own barn every two years. It would be harder to build rivalries, but if it's really a big game schedule it as a non-conference like NMU v MTU does now. I would think the diversity of teams you get to watch would be a plus for fans.

well I think last year we hung the goalie out to dry way too often, if the defense is better and we can operate on special teams, we should win our share.
let's hope our defensemen have improved.

The word out of the paint store is that next year our fall non conference series will be a visit from AIC. We'll play NMU after the new year.

We will play Northern 4 or 5 times next year. So that part is no surprise. And AIC, sweet, maybe we can sweep a team for once. Or maybe not.

That kind of a matchup just might be good enough to make it worthy of tInvasion. ;) :D

I would guess they scheduled these games as a result of my buying one of their jerseys this past spring. (It was the last one needed to complete my collection of one jersey from every current D-I men's team.) Their AD prob wondered why someone from MTU had an interest in their program and told the team they need to head down to Houghton and check things out. I really dig their current jerseys with the hornet on the front and the color choices are top notch. I wouldn't mind having one of the newer style yellow ones.
