That is indeed from the football game at Fifth Third Ballpark

Amazing what you can do with a little propane and an ignition source, there's also a working prototype of a trombone model (quick goes and looks up link for the edit on this post)

Still needs some work, but they're working on making a pretty big flame

Remind me to bug Selgo to invite you guys down next year for Halloween. I just wanna see the look of Sheer Terror in the eyes of Barry Martin when he sees flames coming from the semi-controlled chaos that is the Michigan Tech Pep Band. That, and have somebody else harrass Eric about putting pictures up again. **** slacker....

Re: Blood Alcohol Level - MAX Foul :-)

I lived with that guy for a few years, and saw him a few times where he wouldn't have needed the propane tank.
Did the flaming trumpet get passed on or what because I saw Lorenzo with one at kday this year. Ahh yes, here is a picture of it.

I think so, or if not the actual trumpet, the technology to make a new one. Rob wasn't the first one to have a flaming trumpet - a guy named Matt had the first one.

Soon enough somebody is going to build a flaming tuba up there. :D

Re: MTU Pep Band on the Road

Speaking of the pep-band...
It's too bad there aren't any MTU'ers on the Chicago Wolves...

Maybe plan for a game where an alumni is on the opposing team?

I don't know if Nick would drag the band down there unless they could play like they typically would at a Tech game. The Wolves proposal is to have the guest band play for THREE minutes after warm up, or a 15 minute concert in the lobby. Might be fun if you were from Chicago, but that's a long haul to play for 10 minutes. Heck we didn't even want to go to the CC Mall for a 30 minute performance.

However, it has been done before. During my time in the band, the Milwaukee Admirals had a home game the same weekend as the Final Five when it was at the Bradley Center (and MTU was actually in it - all the way to the champinship game!) and the PepBand became the "house band" for that and played as we usually would (every stoppage, between periods, etc). We were way up in the rafters on the end of the rink, but it was a good time none the less.

I've always hoped that they would set up some sort of Alumni Band event in WI or MN. GLI is fun and all, but it's a long haul even from SE WI.

Single-digit win season. Zero is a single digit, right? Or is it 00?

RIPLEY - A structure fire completely enveloped a building in the vicinity of the Quincy Smelting Works site at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Greg Audette of the Houghton County Sheriff's Department.

"It appears to be at the Quincy smelter site," Audette said.

Sirens pierced the night air as the Ripley Fire Department, among what appeared to be several others, tended to the fire in Ripley, which billowed smoke that could be seen for miles. The building could also be heard collapsing as departments attempted to put out the flames. The fire appeared to be under control as of around midnight.

It was odd, a couple of weeks ago I posted on my facebook "Smoke on the water" because the Portage had this extremely thick and errie fog/cloud over it. And this week it is fire in the sky.
