Nothing special happened, I was already with another lady that evening ;)

Sister of Hembroff is not particularly bad though.

Ummm, tell me again how teams with no offical games played rank above the Huskies (or anyone for that matter)?
# 5 Yale 0-0-0 on the season garners 758 points
#13 Cornell also 0-0-0 so far got 406 points

Based on this I think Tech should have been the preseason #1, we've put up more zeros than any other team in the league in recent years...

Ivy league education? Obviously most of the voters didn't get one....

What ever happened to Seth Soley? I was really interested to see how he would do at the college level.

I dont really know how i feel about players like Soley leaving Highschool early to play junior/college level hockey. If you are good enough then, you will be good enough if not better a year or two down the line. Plus not only are you getting more playing time, game experience, and toning your skills, you are able to take on that older/leadership role on your team. I've never heard of a coach who doesnt like leadership.

His former teamate Jefferson Dahl seemed to do ok staying for his senior year. Dahl is now playing at Wisconsin, putting up his first assist during his first college home game. Not only is he getting playing time, and playing well, he was able to go undefeated during his senior year, win a state championship, win the Mr. Hockey award, he was able to develop into a leader as the captain of the team. He seems to be doing all right to me...

I dont know, i guess i just feel that staying with your team is a better choice. Had soley stayed he would have most likely broken every school record for scoring, which now Jefferson Dahl has taken over. This would have been a impressive feat, consider the fact that NHL player Jake Dowell (also from Eau Claire Memorial) racked up a bunch of points there.

I understand the competition is better at a higher level, but i feel that there are more aspects to consider.

The short verison - Soley didn't like playing Russell's defensive systems, was called out for it, copped a bad attitude and sat for awhile. He was offered a chance to play during the home series against Wisconsin but decided to sit out, apparently to "send a message" to the coaching staff that he wanted to transfer.

Last we heard, he's now playing D3 for St. Norbert.

"#$%&#@%$"

If I could have posted right after the Saturday night game that would have been my post. But given some time for reflection, it wasn't all that bad.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Well, obviously both, it just depends on how one wants to look at it. There was a lot to like on Friday night. The freshman looked strong. The cycle was working. They stayed out off the penalty box (for the most part). Saturday night showed there is still along way to go. Blowing a two goal lead, AGAIN! Goaltending, still too inconsistent. Too much time in their own zone. Couldn't get the cycle going. Penalties at some very inopportune times. A couple of the power plays looked all disorganized again.
But in the end they do look better than the past couple of years. They took 3 of 4 WCHA points. And they have a week off to prepare and maybe steal a game in Wisconsin.

As long as we are going to count games that don't count, Tech would be 6-3-2 since the trip to Europe. IF there had been a poll back in July how many of you would have guessed they would have done that well over those 11 games???

Hope they fix what they need to fix, look forward to seeing them a the GLI and GO HUSKIES!!!!

Cornell, a historic program that has regularly finished at or near the top of the ECAC under Schafer's tenure, often gets the benefit of the doubt in preseason polling, even though the Ivies only play 22 regular season games and start later than the rest of us. Since they typically do finish the season ranked or at least in the top 4 of their conference, I don't mind it. As far as I know, Yale didn't lose their top three forwards on a team that has won the ECAC two years running (though I agree that #5 seems shaky with their returning goalies having posted 1980s-esque numbers).

Big John Scott not really a fan favorite at this point...

The Chicago fans may have been misled if they thought he was signed to play ice hockey :p The Wild actually had a guy to remind him to carry a stick and wear gloves when he was sent out, so he would resemble a hockey player a little bit.

I'm trying to get the audio of it, but one of the hosts of a Chicago sports call-in show said that everytime John Scott takes the ice, all he can think about is "Puttin' on the Ritz" from Young Frankenstein.

Nah... he looks better than that. Even takes the time to make sure his hair looks good before the beat down. :)

He's 6'8" for gods sake, how can anyone expect him to skate with that kind of center of gravity?

Also, fun fact, he's only 1 of 4 players 6'8" or taller

Zdeno Chara 6'9"
Tyler Myers 6'9"
Derek Boogaard 6'8"

Chara and Myers seem to be able to skate well enough for their size. :p

However, they are exceptions to the rule.

Well, seems you folks at MTU are part of a conspiracy.

They somehow didn't get the MN contingent's fax for the suite for the MN-MTU matchup, so it was sold to someone else.

So, look out, since that means more money for booze in Houghton, like that's something the Gopher group really needs. :p

See you guys in about a month!
