You should wear nut huggers like that to the games. Mitch Lake will be all over you.

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

First thing I saw when opening the page. I had to rub my eyes and do a double take. I really didn't think they would take notice this early in the season of the Huskies success. Was a nice article about the team. More Tech hockey can't come soon enough for me.

It helps when you have a regular beat writer. The WCHA blogger crew just had to ask Karnosky to put something together.

Of course, there was also the random shoutout from InCH last week, almost as if they had lurked on these boards and read my beeching and moaning a few weeks ago.

Since Tech has the weekend off, I'm heading out East to watch BU take on Providence this Saturday with some buddies. Anyone else going to visit other rinks and see if they will be the only person there in a Tech jersey? I'm pretty sure I will be.

I hate this bye week already, kind of taking the excitement out of the good start. :(

I'm considering heading to Marriucci, but probably only if I can take the fuel efficient vehicle.

Re: I Love the 70's ($1 to VH1)

Tech starts off 3-0-2, and according to Tyler Buckentine I guess we just haven't played anybody yet. Nevermind that 3-1 Wisconsin, a "team that can win", did so by pounding UAH.

And before someone (SG or Phil :p) goes into another a lecture-worthy explanation of earning respect, etc, etc. I get that no one is going to take us seriously until we beat some "name" teams. You don't have to tell me that. However it still cheeses me off just a little that some new-hire journalist subtly writes off a talented NMU team, and cites a team that has a winning record because they pounded on a weak opponent as an example of a 'real' team.

Oh, I certainly think MTU should have been ranked in the top 20 considering they are still undefeated and I'm pretty sure they would have been ranked if they had won tuesday or saturday...UW is 3-1 with wins over Holy Cross and UAH (2) and a loss to BU. But they have history on their side. It didn't help MTU that NMU was off this last weekend. Oh well, in the end, who cares, its about the record and the results and not the polls. I'm way more worried about getting point(s) in madison than I am about MTU being ranked.

If you do, let me know. I may be going to Toby Keith's and I know that you want to check the place out.

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

Just my two cents but being ranked at this stage is not really a good thing. I am also more concerned about getting some points in madison. Plus of course I worry about the lack of a power play and our seeming inability to hold a lead against anyone.
I really hope we have seen the last of the old Tech. Let's just keep putting one foot in front of the other and continue to get better. I like what's happened so far, and I don't care about the rankings, that will take care of itself.

I am also making definite plans to travel to Hoton for the cc series and to omaha as well. I just have to see for myself before GLI comes around. We have a fairly tough schedule coming up it seems to me, with no easy games for quite a while.

Any news on schooley?

I'd love to go to Omaha but the Thursday/Friday game schedule is completely messing things up for me.

I'm free that weekend again, since Toby Keith's changed the date of the Joe Nichols concert on me. Should be interesting deer hunting the next morning after a night at Toby's...eh, won't be the first time or the last time I deer hunt hungover.
I probably still won't go to Omaha though, money and vacation days make it a little tough.
