New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Ohhhhhh, have fun Red Cloud and/or GLM. ;)

/me steps away to a distance of not less than 25 feet, grabs bean bag and a big bowl of popcorn.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

joining in on this a little late, but here are my two cents on the yankees this year:

1) hate the Nick Johnson signing... would have preferred vlad, especially in an already lefty heavy lineup. still, a nick johnson injury + a hot start in AAA could lead to an early call up for Montero, especially if the Yanks start out slow in April as they have tendencies to do.

2) love the Vazquez trade... I think we'll see more of his pre all-star numbers than his post all-star numbers this season

3) on the fence about the Granderson trade, but hopefully Grandy can win me over.

5) Regardless of their contributions, which I am very thankful for, it was time for both Matsui and Damon to go, and I am glad neither was brought back.

6) I wouldn't mind seeing Joba in AAA for the year as a starter, so that he can work out his mechanics and be Andy's replacement for next year in case Andy does retire.

1) So you hate a guy that the one thing he does really, really well is get on base so Teixeira, A-Rod, Cano, Posada can knock him in on a regular basis and would rather have a guy that's on the fading end of his career and swings at everything in sight. Huh.

Montero won't see the Bronx before September unless a catching apocalypse happens.

2) Vazquez will be awesome. The first round pick the Yankees will get for him after this season will also be nice compensation.

3) What do you have against Granderson? Would you rather still have Melky Cabrera? Granderson will be a rock star and worth it in New York.

5) Agreed, it was time to part ways with them. It would've been great to have Matsui stay, but he wanted to play some of the time in the outfield which... Was never happening in New York. Damon I thank for his contributions to the team.

6) I too would've liked seeing this but the team is being stubborn with Joba. He hasn't been right since his shoulder got wonked late in 2008 and I'd rather they find out what's going on with him rather than trot him out there with zero confidence and throwing at 75% power.

- let's just say I don't have much faith in Nick Johnson staying healthy, and I don't feel like Guerrero has had his last moment in the spotlight yet.
- I wouldn't mind the Yankees extending Vazquez, especially if he can make solid contributions over an entire season, but like you said, the first round compensation will be nice too, as this team needs to build up its farm system again
- No I wouldn't rather have Melky than Granderson since Melky was in the Vazquez trade, but yes I'd rather have Jackson/Coke back... traded our top prospect and a good lefty option out of the pen for a guy who hits .250, whose defense is declining. I've been able to see Austin Jackson a couple of times in person and liked what I saw, granted it's against AAA pitching. Still, he could have developed into a 15-20 home run Brett Gardner (IMO, at least)

again, this is going to be a fun season :p

We had the same concerns about A.J. Burnett and he made it through last season. Sometimes injuries are what they are - bad luck. Who knows? The man's OPS is totally worth the contract.

Let's... uh... let's see how he does first.

A 15-20 HR Brett Gardner vs. Curtis Granderson? Seriously?

and now a bullpen without Phil Coke, which means our primary left hander is Marte, who was on full display the other night

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

on a separate note, does anyone here want to rationalize the chan ho park signing for me?

Typical throw poop against the wall and see what sticks method that most teams use to assemble the veteran end of the bullpen.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRAIN!

You'll never catch me burying a guy after ONE game. Marte will be fine, Posada needs to quit being a petty b-tch behind the plate and catch a ball or two on occasion.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

3 lefties in the lineup tonight vs lester. WAYYYYYYY too many. **** you, nick johnson.

That was a terrible signing. I may be wrong but he can't pitch in the American League. Chad Gaudin was cut for him?

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

This is what happens when you teach a fanboy a few stats. Young players are projected favorably into the future. Old players refuse to decline. Random injuries don't happen. So obviously, destiny awaits. :p

NY will not >= 125 games in 2010. They may win the AL East. They may win the World Series. Objectively, they may even be better than the 1998 team (assuming that objective, non-BS comparisons are even possible).

But the league is different. The AL East is better. I'm not sure I buy that Vazquez was the best pitcher in the NL last year...but even that isn't saying as much as it used to.

If you think that's funny, you should see what happens when you teach a member of Pink Hat Nation a few stats.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

no Chan Ho Park and the Yankees are victorious?

now THAT'S a winning formula :D

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Not bad, Joba; Not bad at all.

Think he was a little amped up throwing 96 heaters?

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Wanted: One left fielder :D

How do we pry Carl Crawford from the Rays this season?

Nice job by the bullpen last night.

Andy's up next tonight. Let's take 2 of 3 from the Sox and get out of Boston.
