New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

He's 20. Last year his move to Trenton was exactly what he needed. He was forced to play behind the plate more because there was no Austin Romine type of catcher (good defensively with pretty good offensive skills) there. Also, Tony Pena made a couple of trips down to work with him. From my point of view, he needs to be in the field as much as possible because he hasn't really had a great amount of opportunities to catch during games the last two years being paired with Romine in the minors.

That's why he's getting the move to AAA, plus it allows Austin Romine to catch as much as possible in AA too. Romine is either going to be the future full time catcher while Montero goes... somewhere else in the field or DH.

What about Francisco Cervelli?

Settle down nervous nellie, he said if it was regular season he would've played.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

The yanks swept a split squad matchup with Philly and Pitt today... of note:

Aceves with 4 innings of no-hit ball, and the Pittsburgh game was a combined 1 hitter by 4 pitchers (only 2BB as well). The game was completed in 2:22.

In other important news, I got my Saturday partial season ticket plan back this year.

Yeah I know, no one cares.

I care, I'm waiting on ours too. Did you actually get the tickets or just the confirmation? We tried a modest upgrade but were limited to field level at $200 plus per seat.

They won't ship the season tickets for a few more weeks - especially since the Yankees opener isn't until April 13th.

But I spoke with my ticket rep and I was able to switch back to the Saturday plan, which I had in the Old Yankee Stadium. The Saturday tickets are in my online account, but I don't expect to get the actual tickets for at least 3 more weeks.

Phil Hughes officially named 5th starter this morning and Chad Gaudin given his unconditional release.

10 days til the opener

I read this in this morning papers. I also read that there are going to be some sort of modified "Joba rules" for Hughes. Seriously? I mean those rules have works so well for Joba. Nothing like getting bounced from starter to the pen back to starter now back to the pen (or whatever the sequence has been). Worked so well that it appears that he has regressed this spring.

If the guy can pitch stick him out there and let him pitch!

Waiting for GLM's response defending the Yanks on this........ ;)

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Hughes' innings limit is going to be around 170-175 innings and as a fifth starter that's more than enough. Chamberlain hit 163 last year with regular season and playoffs combined.

I think this was the Yankees way of sh-tting or getting off the pot in regards to these guys. I don't like it, but it is what it is. The "loser" of the battle wasn't going to Scranton so Joba going to the pen was a logical move. What I don't like is that it's going to screw with David Robertson a bit as he's f-cking money.

Having a gigantic and awesome bullpen isn't exactly a bad thing here, there's no real room to complain about anything.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Meh. Would have preferred Joba as 5th starter. Gaudin was released today as well.

Nick Johnson better stay healthy. For crying out loud, just walk to the plate 5 time a game, that's all we're asking.

He's out of the field so just as long as he's gotten all the freakish injuries out of the way he'll be fine.
