New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

The fact that I did a double take when I saw Marcus Thames' name on the opening day roster shows that I haven't been paying enough attention during spring training. I rarely do. I mean, I knew we picked up the Ho Train, but I was only vaguely aware of Thames.

Jeter SS
Johnson DH
Teixeira 1B
A-Rod 3B
Cano 2B
Posada C
Granderson CF
Swisher RF
Gardner LF

Bench: Francisco Cervelli, Ramiro Pena, Marcus Thames, Randy Winn.

Rotation: Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Vazquez, Hughes.

Pen: Mariano Rivera, Joba Chamberlain, Dave Robertson, Damaso Marte, Chan Ho Park, Alfredo Aceves, Sergio Mitre.

The rebuilt Death Star resumes its arse-pillaging.

Carry on, Yankees.

Little over an hour until Jeter steps to the plate.

I picked Jeter to get a hit tonight in Beat the Streak, and my Fantasy team would appreciate a good outing from C.C. tonight. :D

Supposedly Pedro Martinez will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"Bah God, that's Hideki Matsui's music! What's he doing here!? OH MY GOD KING HE JUST TOOK PEDRO DEEP AGAIN!"

The Yanks chase Beckett. I love how Rick Reilly blasted the Yanks for playing in long games... NOT! I'm not a fan of the Empire by any means, but this is what they do best. They are a patient team and will do what it takes to get past the starter.

Rick Reilly is a RAGING blowhard.

In fairness, Boston's doing the same. Sabathia's a workhorse, but 85 pitches thru 5 is a lot.

Tonight is mostly a case of Beckett not having movement. Not on his curveball, not on his fastball. 94mph is nothing if it's flat. As the Yanks ably demonstrated.

The blowhard... err... Reilly did lump the Sox, Yanks and Dodgers into the group. Funny how 5 of the 6 teams that saw the most pitches made the playoffs.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

I do agree in theory that the games are too long. Seeing pitches wasn't Ricks point either.

It was about all of the time wasted between pitches.

Thank you, why should they stop doing that if it works?

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Shucks, I was hoping the Yanks would go 162-0 this year, and clinch the division by the All-Star break. ;)

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

joining in on this a little late, but here are my two cents on the yankees this year:

1) hate the Nick Johnson signing... would have preferred vlad, especially in an already lefty heavy lineup. still, a nick johnson injury + a hot start in AAA could lead to an early call up for Montero, especially if the Yanks start out slow in April as they have tendencies to do.

2) love the Vazquez trade... I think we'll see more of his pre all-star numbers than his post all-star numbers this season

3) on the fence about the Granderson trade, but hopefully Grandy can win me over.

4) As long as the starting pitching holds up, this team shouldn't have trouble winning the AL East again, probably clinching in early-mid September.

5) Regardless of their contributions, which I am very thankful for, it was time for both Matsui and Damon to go, and I am glad neither was brought back.

6) I wouldn't mind seeing Joba in AAA for the year as a starter, so that he can work out his mechanics and be Andy's replacement for next year in case Andy does retire.

7) glad there's a place on USCHO for yankees fans like me :P going to be a fun season!
