There isn't much to like about being 4.5 back in the Wild Card, but Tampa isn't exactly lighting the world on fire right now. Getting Pedroia back soon will certainly help. I know they've struggled against bad teams, but they're 15 over .500 for a reason. I'd be shocked if they go .500 against these bad teams down the stretch. If they do, that combined with their dreadful start will be why they're on the outside looking in. The fact they're only 4.5 out with all the injuries says a lot to me.

Nice comeback by the "B" squad last night. :D

I hope Tex doesn't miss anymore games as Berkman should not be allowed to bring his glove to the stadium. ;) :D :p

The only thing keeping Boston afloat right now is their ridiculous record against Toronto. Against other competition, the Blue Jays are blowing them out of the water.

One of the best games I have seen this year. Another similar one last night with the Dodgers and Phillies. Anyone else tired of Rick Sutcliff and Dave O'Brien? Is he Cliff Lee's agent? ;) Sutcliff is such a "motor mouth" and they both are obviously Yankee haters. Then again, there aren't many good announcers and commentators out there.

Since he joined the Yankees last season, Teixeira has been intentionally walked to load the bases 10 times. The batter behind him is 7 for 8 with four homers and 25 RBIs.

A couple of quick notes.

Chevy Nova taking Javy's turn in the rotation as least for one start. Nova looked pretty good the other night.

The Boss getting a monument in Monument Park on September 20th.

No word yet on if Swish is in or out tonight after fouling the ball off his knee last night.

What the hell was Bautista's problem with Nova the other night? A rookie pitcher threw a high fastball over the catcher's head, not towards yours and you take offense to it? And why the hell was the ump warning the benches? Weird.

is there any coming back for burnett at this point? starting to feel like its going to be a long 3 years with him!

did pettitte have any updates today on his progress back?

Only at about 75%, he is taking it slow as he did nothing, nada, zilch for the past 10 days. He admits he is out of shape as he wasn't able to train at all. Looks like they will assess the situation again on Sunday or Monday. Best case scenario appears to be 2 or 3 major league starts before the playoffs. He is definitely going to need some minor league rehab starts beforehand.

AJ needs to get his head out of his azz. It looked like batting practice out there last night.

Yeah, next weekend so he will probably have to pitch some simulated games. Good news on Pettitte today in that he expects to be back in 2 weeks to start after throwing today.

AJ to remain in the rotation even with Nova's nice start today.

yankees claimed lilly but the dodgers pulled him back believing they are still in contention.
