New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

I tend to agree, but it took Rodriguez exactly 3 years to get from 500 to 600. Granted, there's an injury in there, too, but you've got to figure that there's going to be higher probability of that now that he's on the other side of 35. If it takes him 3 more years to get to 700, now he's 38 and still a couple years short. And at that point, it's nowhere near a formality that he gets #763.

I agree that is isn't a formality, but I think there is a much greater chance of A-Rod being around well into his 40's (as long as he still has power) and getting 763 than Jeter playing into his 40's and getting 4000. As they both age into their 40's I see a much greater need for a power hitting part time 3B/SS/DH than an average hitter (lead off type) part time SS/DH.

This. Absolutely this. I'd side with A-Rod getting there.

Please enjoy your 3-4 wins this weekend.

Thank you.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Let's hope you're right. Of course you get both Javy and AJ so it'll probably be a split.

There will be about 2-3 Red Sox players added to the DL in the meantime. That will even the odds.

Yeah, but you miss our current best pitcher, Daisuke  .

That lessens the probability of a five hour game.

Six hours. Stop being pessimistic.

The only thing longer that the games will be the whining from fans of teams that dislike one or both teams complaining about the pace of the games.

Brutal day for the Swish, 0 for 5, 3Ks and 7 men LOB. I'll cut him some slack though, he's been money all season. As far as Granderson is concerned, I've seen enough...adios Grandyman.

OK, as long as I'm piling on, I might as well throw Posada under the bus. His lack of performance in the clutch is bad enough, but his below average defense has become pitiful.

Somebody out there will say it was a great trade giving up Austin Jackson :p

You should know better than that by now.

What? No dap for me calling a split?

By the way, the Sox fanbase seems to be like Homer Simpson while his roast pig is flying through the air, "It's just a little airborne. It's still good! It's still good!" in that earning a split "saves the season."

Breaking even saves the season. Hooray?

Since I haven't predicted anything sports related correctly since 1999...

By the way, the Sox fanbase seems to be like Homer Simpson while his roast pig is flying through the air, "It's just a little airborne. It's still good! It's still good!" in that earning a split "saves the season."

Oh, we're pretty sure it's over. The entire season has been so meh that no one is freaking out.

Awesome Simpsons reference BTW.

Well, are you of the opinion that their season is over already? They're 4.5 out of the Wild Card with 49 to play. Looking at the schedule, 30-19 is reasonable. Tampa would have to go 26-24 to force a playoff. It's unlikely that Tampa will go 26-24, but something like that isn't out of the question.

They're not in a very good position. If they were in any other division they'd be fine. Instead they're in the AL East Cage Match with not just NY and TB but Toronto and now Baltimore who seems to give a crap again. Boston has also been decidedly mediocre against bad teams. What is there to like?
