I saw in Oakland that the A's beat the Rays (and that's all that matters). So tonight is for 1st place if the Yanks can finish the sweep.

Starting to look like Cashman was right to hold firm on not dealing him for Johan Santana - either that or Bill Smith is still a retard for balking at him.

Pettitte starts on Saturday, Mitre on Sunday.

Thank God Pettitte is starting Saturday, I'll be there as well (taking a bus trip).

I have tickets - not sure if I want to make the drive down from Mass though - and Cap Day is not exactly twisting my arm.

Alex Rodriguez waited on deck, with runners at second and third and the New York Yankees trailing by a run in the seventh inning. Boy, did Ron Gardenhire have a tough decision to make. Pitch to Mark Teixeira or intentionally walk him and bring in right-handed sinkerballer Matt Guerrier to replace Brian Duensing; Even though A-Rod was 4 for 6 against Guerrier with three home runs.

Yup, Guerrier came in.

And the ball went out.

Teixeira's home run today might be the furthest home run I've ever witnessed in person. It also landed four sections over from where I was sitting. :eek:

GLM, I must have been sitting right below you in the Main tier. I watched the ball sail right over us and disappear into the upper deck. I couldn't believe the height on it as it flew over. Pretty impressive effort by AP today too.

I was watching from one of the Party Suites upstairs, on the foul side of the pole. Seeing that ball fly by at our level was surreal.
