New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Captain America - Good but I think it should have been two separate movies. First one would have been up to the rescue at the camp and the Captain becoming more than a visual hero. Second is him defeating Red Skull and being encased in ice.

Oops spoiler, but he gets frozen in ice. It's in the trailers and you see it at the START of the movie. The editor should have been shot for that. Takes away much of the emotional impact of his later act.
Yeah, I saw it tonight, and I think I could agree with you on that thought about making it 2 movies. Could have thrown in some more stuff with him fighting his way into the camp, and perhaps capped the first movie there with Capt. getting the disc shield. Second movie could have been him and his crew wiping the floor with HYDRA, and trashing those factories, the big Red Skull fight, freezing, and then maybe him thawing out in modern day NYC and him dealing with everybody he knew being dead or one foot in the grave perhaps. And I might have set the release date of it to be around the July 4 weekend and dare anybody else to go up against it then. My thoughts on it anyways. But still overall, a feel good action movie where you don't have to feel bad about liking the good guy at all.

RD reminded me of Glengarry Glenross: very good movie, but probably better off as a play. And yes I know Glen was a play.
I known what you're saying, but the movie version of Glengarry Glenross was much better than it had any right to be. There was one mistake in casting (Al Pacino, but in fairness I've hated him in everything since Dog Day Afternoon), but that kind of a play rarely goes well when it gets into the fetid, grasping hands of Hollywood, and this one escaped unharmed. Oh, and Jack Lemmon is a great actor, that is all.

If they had opened the weekend of the 4th they would have gotten trounced by opening weekend of Transformers 3. They needed to open a week when they would be the #1 movie and that weekend was not going to be it. I mean Transformers did ****ed near $100 million in that 5 day weekend Captain America would never have been able to keep up.

saw Couples Retreat on netflix with the wife - it was meh. Had a few moments, but could've been funnier especially with the cast it had.

saw Star Trek VI over the weekend again - still a pretty good flick. The original crew should've ended on that one rather than the abortion that was Generations.

Also watched parts of Gladiator on TV - I really need to watch that one again from begining to end. Still a **** good movie and the FX hold up pretty well.

Unrelated but what the hell? Winnie the Pooh? Is that still shown somewhere? All I could think of when I saw it was who's the target audience? Kids who have never seen anything to do with it? Or the kids who grew up 15 years ago? It's like that Animaniacs game that came out a while ago that was made for people who weren't even alive when it went off reruns.

My sister in law took my 3 year old nephew to it. She said it was a pretty awesome retelling of the story for the new generation of kids...but it was only like 45 minutes long.

Star Trek VI? Wow that movie was horrible. The original cast should have stopped after IV...V, VI and Generations were just wastes of films. (see also: TNG cast and Nemesis)

My thought on that is if Marvel and all had came out last year well before the studios had firmed up the summer line up, Transformers 3 would have given the Capt. the 4th. There's no reason why Transformers 3 couldn't have done well opening up later in the summer.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

I dont think it was done in time. I havent followed it that closely (though it is one of the few Marvel movies I have interest in) but I know it was not on schedule to be finished for an early summer release. Marvel probably figured why rush to get it out in early July (when they had 2 movies coming out around then so it could be overkill) or risk going up against another blockbuster that would come out the 4th (and no doubt Transformers would have always been pushing for that date) when they could wait until the end of the month and only have Harry Potter to worry about.

Since it beat Potter it worked out beautifully...now as long as Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens doesnt beat it this week all is well. If it falls off the map then I change my theory to "Marvel didn't have much confidence in the movie anyways" ;)

I saw this trailer today, and it made me laugh pretty hard. I love good editing. :)

Vince Vaughn can go eat a bag of dongs.

Yeah these are always great when they are done right. Going to have to look up a few that I remember seeing and share them.

Wow. Maybe I just never notice it but I dont think Ive heard that kind of phrasing from you before...

I did have to go look up what he has been in though to see if he has any movies I do like.... Swingers and Rudy (Im a born and raised Notre Dame fan)...and he was barely in Rudy.

Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers were both way funnier than they had any right to be.

Art should match its object. :)

Vince Vaughn was in Rudy? I must not have noticed him through my tears. That's actually not ironic, for once.

He was the guy in the huddle at the end who told everyone they need to score again so Rudy could have a chance to get on the field. We see him earlier in the film as well as a running back (?) who gets hit by Rudy during practice and takes offense to Rudy playing so hard. Ara then goes off on him and says something about if he had half of the heart Rudy did he would be All American or something to that affect.

I believe he was the QB...a third stringer.
