New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

This movie was also French and subtitled. I don't mind it at all, since I've gotten used to movies like that. There's another Cassel/Bellucci movie, can't remember what it's called offhand, but I've heard that it's rather disturbing in parts (some sort of rape scene or something that is difficult to watch). I will queue up Mesrine, though. I'm becoming a big fan of Cassel's work.
I queued up the apartment one. My queue was down to one dvd :o

I looked up that other one: Irreversible: When a woman is brutally violated, her angered boyfriend and ex-boyfriend team up to track down the rapist and take justice into their own hands.

And I know I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but Crimson Rivers is another good Cassel one (also has Jean Reno).

Awesome. That might be one that you have to be in the mood for.

Reminds me of the bit in Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings where her uncles post bail for her step-father after he's arrested for molesting her. They take him down an alley and beat him to death.

I agree about the mood thing. Hence why I've only seen "Monster's Ball" once, and same with "Requiem For A Dream." Both are great movies, but I don't know if I ever want to see them again.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

I should rephrase that, I guess. I still saw her as "Jackie" in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Extract. In Book Of Eli and Black Swan, she gets really close, but I still can't totally buy the characters 100% because of the Jackie Factor. Maybe it'll just take time. I dunno.
That's on you, not her. She definitely is not typecast into Black Swan and Book of Eli, and I wouldn't say she was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Friends with Benefits either. Its because you can't see her as anyone else that you think that, not because she's not taking different roles.

Finally saw Kick-Aß last night. Fun, slightly disturbing, and thought-provoking film.

Kick-Ass? I love that movie. It's one I actually bought. The "Banana Splits Theme Song" scene is a favorite of mine.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

I watched The Blind Side a couple nights ago. It was much better than I expected. I really didn't think I'd like it, but watched it anyway, and enjoyed the movie. Sandra Bullock was actually very good in it, but my favorite was the little kid, I thought it was great when he was making demands to the coaches that were out recruiting.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

If you haven't seen Vincent Cassel in Mesrine, I recommend it. I generally hate mobster movies, but for some reason I like Mesrine. It's 2 parts, in French and subtitled, so if that turns you off, then nevermind, but I found it pretty enjoyable.
Not to knock your choice personally, and only offering an opening, but my god I hated every second of that movie, and it sure wasn't the subtitles. It found a way to be boring and violent at the same time.

Not necessarily surprised. My tastes in movies run a bit counter to a lot of people's. (Again, I LOATHE The Godfather. It drives me crazy that my roommates love it so much.) It definitely was more violent than I generally prefer.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Michael Bay, leading producer of ********* cinema wants to remake the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into aliens.

"These turtles are from an alien race," he said, "And they're going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable."

Bay believes that the alien "Ninja Turtles" could inspire a whole new generation of kids to believe in Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael again.

"When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie."

Is any further proof needed that there is no god, or at least not one that is loving?

Because Michael Bay continues to find work? it is pretty sad.

So, wouldn't Splinter need to be an alien too? And BeeBop? And Rocksteady? Let's just make everyone an alien... I mean, it's totally the same thing....

That way the government and army can hunt them down, in between shots of the American flag/White House, and the occasionally sexy shot of April.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Any turtles action will be overshadowed by the main plat of April's awkward love affair with some annoying guy who everyone rightly ignores before the movie starts but then has some major importance for some inexplicable reason once it does.
