Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

I just saw The Book of Eli. Not bad. Made me angry.

The Adjustment Bureau

I really liked this one. It actually made you use your brain a little. The acting was pretty good, and while the foreshadowing was way over the top obvious, I didn't mind it, because of how they got to the result of the foreshadowing. And anyway, Terrance Stamp kinda rules.

Should have spawned a Special Oscar category: "Best Use of Hats."

An episode of Futurama (That's Lobstertainment) did a parody of the Oscars. They had a category for Best Soft Drink Product Placement. I won't be surprised when that is a real category.

The Way Back

Slow, sometimes plodding, and a few minutes over 2 hours long (which is kind of the standard). And I loved it. Very much worth watching.

"They Call Me Mr. Pibb" got robbed.

Exactly. And I think she was 14 when that show came on the air.

Something like that. Now, I give her credit for trying (Black Swan) but it's difficult. She nailed that role as Jackie. That's a big hurdle.

On the one hand, being typecast must suck, but on the other, if she has decent financial advisement, she shouldn't ever need to work again. Especially since she was under 18 for almost half of That 70's Show. Unless her parents suck.

Agree. I'd like to see her break type, she has potential, but it's a tough road.

What exactly is her type? Her roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Friends With Benefits were nothing like Jackie...

I should rephrase that, I guess. I still saw her as "Jackie" in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Extract. In Book Of Eli and Black Swan, she gets really close, but I still can't totally buy the characters 100% because of the Jackie Factor. Maybe it'll just take time. I dunno.

She also does the voice for Meg (the daughter) on Family Guy.

L'Appartement

Pretty good movie starring Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci. Complex drama about intertwining lives, deceit, obsession, and love. I very much recommend it.

If you haven't seen Vincent Cassel in Mesrine, I recommend it. I generally hate mobster movies, but for some reason I like Mesrine. It's 2 parts, in French and subtitled, so if that turns you off, then nevermind, but I found it pretty enjoyable.

This movie was also French and subtitled. I don't mind it at all, since I've gotten used to movies like that. There's another Cassel/Bellucci movie, can't remember what it's called offhand, but I've heard that it's rather disturbing in parts (some sort of rape scene or something that is difficult to watch). I will queue up Mesrine, though. I'm becoming a big fan of Cassel's work.
