I watched Phone Booth this afternoon. Pretty good. Very short, but complete. Colin Farrell is a pretty good actor, and Kiefer Sutherland found a role that used teh velvet to its best abilities.

Ashamed to admit this but the wife was watching The Help. I was trying to nap while it was on but couldn't fall asleep quick enough and got a pretty good jist of what was going on. *sigh*
This one was a strange movie. Still not sure of my take on it. It really struck me as odd they didn't digitize Kiefer's voice like he was actually on a phone. It was like he was just talking to the guy.

I've been avoiding it because I really dug the first one and didn't want to be disappointed with the typical nosedive sequel.

From the trailer it looked like an exceptionally terrible movie wrapped up in an attractive premise, and that nobody was going to see or not see it based on anything but their interest in the Seals. Which is fine, but if they were going to do that I hope every dollar of profit went to the families of soldiers lost.

I remember watching it with some buddies and when it was over we werent sure if we liked it or not because it ended rather quickly. It felt like it needed about 20 more minutes or so. (which is usually not the case)

My fiancee and I went to see To Rome With Love this past Saturday. Wasn't crazy about the "here are four unconnected stories that happen to take place in the same city" format. And I still don't get what the deal was with Alec Baldwin following Jesse Eisenberg around, and I'm not really buying "Ellen Page as irresistible siren".
On the other hand, like any Woody Allen movie, gorgeous women abound, so it's got that going for it.

Well, P2 is kind of a sequel, but kind of not. It's directly tied into the first story.
To put it another way, the first story is actually "in the middle" of P2.
From wiki: The film is a parallel prequel to the 2007 film Paranormal Activity, beginning two months before and following up with the events depicted in the original film. It was released in theaters at midnight on October 22, 2010 in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Canada.[3]
My beefs with it were:
1. It's 90 minutes or so, and the first 30 minutes NOTHING HAPPENS. NOTHING. They try to build suspense, with you waiting for that first hook, but waiting 1/3 through a movie like that will get you nowhere.
2. It doesn't get creative with the horror effects. They use the same tricks as in the first one. Spice it up a little! Don't use the same scare tactics.
3. The sum of 1 and 2. The makers of the movie just got lazy. I hate lazy. If it was bad and you really tried, okay, it sucks, but it happens. Lazy? Blecch.

I liked Woody Allen a lot more when he was Woody Allen. In the last decade he's been trying really hard to be Jim Jarmusch.

Instead of watching the Tigers tonight, I watched Andy Griffith in A Face in the Crowd with Patricia Neal, Walter Matthau, Anthony Franciosa, and Lee Remick. Directed by Elia Kazan. (1957)
Quite a tour de force by Griffith. A Face in the Crowd is still relevant and worth the watch.
