Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does

"I see you found my trophy room, Dalton. The only thing missing, is your ***."

"I used to f* guys like you in jail." THAT'S supposed to intimidate me? C'mon, man!

Watched "Conviction" tonight. It was okay. It's one of those stories where it could be as long as it was (about 100 minutes) or be a 2.5 hour-3 hour epic super dramatic movie. Kinda glad it was short, otherwise I think it would have been way over the top.

Watched "Following" tonight, which was Nolan's first movie. Really, really, good. Non-linear storytelling, lots of twists and turns, etc. Loved it. Very similar to "Memento" which I think was his second movie (and is also excellent) in the way the movie unfolds.

Just a little reminder of said USCHO policy here to for those of us who haven't seen TDKR tonight and would like to remain in the Bubble yet so they don't have it spoiled.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does

Is the specific thread about the movie going to have spoilers? I haven't gone in there yet because I don't want to see spoilers.

Nothing yet. In fact, the only comments so far have been about that ******* that shot up one of the midnight screenings in Colorado.

I wont be posting any spoilers (saw it last night) for a few days...I dont want someone to accidentally read them and spoil the movie because there are a lot cool things and twists/turns.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does

What's wrong with limiting discussion by people who have seen the movie to the other thread so those of us who don't want spoilers can avoid them by avoiding that thread?

im sure some of it is the fact that that thread might turn in to the debate of the shooting this morning...with spoiler stuff mixed in?

Who said there was anything wrong with it...we brought that thread back for that purpose he just wanted to know if that thread had spoilers or not or if it would. (which it doesnt)

I'm assuming it would have some, so that's what I'm operating on so I can stay in the Bubble.

That's what I was going with.

I move that we talk about that waste of humanity in the Nice Planet thread, keep all talk about the actual TDKR movie to that thread, and the regular movie stuff here??? All in favor say AYE!

OYE...err...AYE!!

OK, OK, relax, just asking.

Did I mention I am kind of looking forward to the Total Recall remake? Well, I am!

Will there be 3-breasted alien women again? Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes, I hear...but, I believe it's PG-13....

The trailer I saw says: yes.

Actually, based on the trailer it looks like a shot-for-shot remake with more advanced CGI in which case, why bother? I'd rather somebody interesting (Nolan?) take a shot at "Clans of the Alphane Moon," which would make one helluva weird movie.

Watched 2 over the weekend, that I probably should have seen before, but hadn't.

First was Vertigo, which I thought was just OK. I know its considered one of the best ever, but I just never got into it. I find this is the case with most older movies, I just don't connect with them. Its not because I need a movie with flashy special effects and explosions, because I like newer movies that are slow-paced and not flashy, so I'm not sure what it is, they're just not for me.

Second, is a movie that I have seen parts of at several different times, and then several years ago made a point to avoid until I can see the whole thing from start to finish. I finally decided that I needed to just get it on Netflix, because it would be the only way to watch it start to finish. Goodfellas...yeah, I should have seen this long ago, but whatever. The movie was very good, but not as good as I expected. I think this is a classic case of hearing how great the movie was for years, and it built my expectations up too high. Overall, I liked it, but just not as good as I expected.

You could have just borrowed Goodfellas from me. :p What makes that movie really good (for me) besides the obvious is that it's really really really true. There's little deviance from the actual events.

The pic in the article isn't good. But it gives all the important information to search for better ones.

The wife got "The Decendants" over the weekend. She totally mislead me on that movie. No idea I was walking into a tear jerking movie like that. Plus it was totally predictable as the plot unfolded. Totally feel cheated but I guess it's payback for her watching "Project X". Need to find a good movie next time since IMHO both were "meh."
