New Hampshire at Vermont : 69ing since 1789

Re: New Hampshire at Vermont : 69ing since 1789

Not sure anyone will see this through all this LCD-filth, but who's going to be at the games this weekend? Unless anything changes, I will be at the Gutt tonight and tomorrow, always a fun time. :D

Dude, that is lame. Seriously, its funny when you say it once. You just continually post it. Now it's just unoriginal and stupid as it shows you lack the mental capacity to post anything besides some catch phrase that is decades old. You are one of those people, a bit of a bully that can't come up with anything of their own so they repeat the same thing over and over that got a laugh 20 years ago. Give it a rest unless you want to be reported for trolling.

Re: New Hampshire at Vermont : 69ing since 1789

Thanks for some good thoughts on the RS vs. tourney seedings....it was nice there for a while until the nom de plum "whitehead" showed up.....sometimes I think he answers his own critiques just to feel important, but that's me....Whomever responded earlier that all UNH has to do is beat UVM, NU and then BC to get themselves going is correct....years ago, when Allen Chamberlain was with the team, coming into each game, he would tell us the permutations on if we did this, and so and so did that, we would be in a good situation....problem was that the team would hear this crap and play accordingly, rather then just win! Hopefully in UNH losing 2 last weekend, they've learned that they HAVE to play their game, and not get caught up in what the other team does...UVM's goalie had our number last year so hopefully he has the flu..:o) Let's go Cats!

Re: New Hampshire at Vermont : 69ing since 1789

jc, reporting doesn't make a difference, no one pays attention. Ignoring is the only thing that will. If no one wants to talk UNH/UVM hockey, maybe this thread should be killed and everyone have fun watching the games either on TV or at the Gutt.

Please! Please! Please! Either put MHFW on your ignore list or resume the juvenile "We're better than you are" nonsense on the Black Bear thread.

Saw UVM in the DC Frozen Four. Even in loss to BU (they should have won) thought Madore was at times great. He's been inconsistent at UNH. So, how's he doing this year?
How about others from that team?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing that last weekend hopefully was a learning experience and just a bump in the road. UVM can be tough at the Gutt but if we play our game UNH shold be fine. I also like the "just win" mantra.:) GO CATS!

Madore has played relatively well this year. He has been at times (well lets face it alot of times) hung out to dry by his defense. He has been solid for them, except on 1-2 occasions. Again considering the jekyll-hyde persona UVM has going Rob has been one thing that is pretty consistent. The D for UVM has been a let down, they play typically a pretty solid 45-50 minutes and then for periods forget to clear pucks, clear people from in front, pick up open guys and miss passes. They play frequently too passive for my liking. That said, they are by an large out of players. With 3 injuries what is clear is it isn't the regular crew. I'm sure Burrows will be playing D instead of F, Griems will be in, and likely Herrington unless Mackenzie is ready to go. As mentioned however, it may not be a bad thing, the D weren't playing spectacular to start with and Griems seems to be solid despite the little bit of playing time he has had.

Offensively goals have come hard, with the exception of the beat down UVM put on ME. Early on in the season UVM played some strong games against the likes of BC/DU/ME/MC and due in part to the quality of those teams as well as some terrible puck luck and 3-4 goals called back they came up shy of a win. That caused some confidence issues that plagued the offense. They have turned things around abit, there is more flow, a bit more aggressiveness and overall there are some lines that are working well together. It is pretty cliche however, I think that this is one case where their record really does not reflect the team. Had UVM picked up a 2 wins early on I think their record would be vastly different. And if they can continue with a decent showing against UNH this weekend say a split or at least a tie in two close games I would not want to be facing them in the QF's. That said, who knows. They very well could come out flat like the UMA 6-0 debacle a few weeks ago.

In short :

Madore : consistent and solid in net
Defense : coin toss, could be good-could be bad
Offense : improving and has potential but again a coin toss

Obviously Madore has the capability to steal games. The D can play when they want to and the offense can score sometimes. That said, the inconsistancy of this team will win or lose the game

Thanks for the analysis, part of which I deleted for thread efficiency. I'm less qualified to analyze, but offer an "in short" for UNH:
DiGi: consistent and solid in net.
Defense: Occasional (frustrating) mistakes. D-men a strength, but forwards tend to cruise for long periods.
Offense: Can score a lot of goals when they skate.
Time of year to solidify teamwork and exert consistent effort. if so, UNH sweeps. If not, another frustrating weekend for Wildcat Country.

This is a key and a big frustration for me... especially with the first line. They have all of the talent in the world, but they take shifts off on defense and seeing Umile light into them during the 5-4 win against AsteriskU when they failed to backcheck showed his frustration with that aspect...

CHC posted an article clip about how they recognize that their shot selection has been poor and they've tried to be too pretty with the puck. Lets see if they do anything about that.

One thing that frustrates the hell out of me in the 2nd half of the season is on the power play, how many pucks get fumbled at the blue line and then how many shots are taken right into shins?

Or holding too long so the D to gets a stick in the way.

Or fired off net - over or way wide (Sislo and Kessel mostly).

Just poor shot selection - we have two guys down low, lets shoot at the glove or the chest so there is no rebound potential. How about try low on the pads or blocker so the goalie can't just smother it.

Or how about just getting in position and standing around so the box doesn't really need to flex, creating passing lanes.

At this point it is all about effort. The 1st line only consistently putting in the work one way. Bad senior leadership from that group.

Exactly, and they acknowledged it in the interviews, but again, talk is cheap. We'll see what happens this weekend against a team they SHOULD be able to beat...

This is a UVM problem as well. The number of shots going wide is unreal. Or at least it seems, maybe its not that bad, but watching them it sure feels like everyother shot is high and wide.

What really drives me crazy is when it is a slap shot back scratcher blast so wide it hits the end boards and screams around out of zone. If you wrist to the net with a man down low (not at the goalies chest or glove) you get a great chance for a tip/redirect or rebound. But why be accurate and make the goalie make a play when we can just blast the puck off net.
