NESCAC season 2014-2015

Can someone confirm whether or not the Midd/Norwich game is Monday 2/2 or Tuesday 2/3. The NESCAC schedule has it for the 2nd. Both the teams sites have it being played on the 3rd.

The game is on 2/3. Initial error in the Norwich schedule had it 2/2.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Wild 1st in Williamstown. Will 3 Bowdoin 1. PB scored SH. Ephs scored on break away at like :25 and a pp after the PB shorty. Bowen for PB. Schultz has 2 for Ephs

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Pretty even 1st at Orr. Lots of end to end Amherst scores late Sullivan with Flom and E Martin on assists

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

3-1 Amherst final. CC was playing with more energy in 3rd. Dobbins made 2 great saves and Sullivan scored a break away goal. Toupal added empty net at the end

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Great weekend of NESCAC action. I got to watch 6 of the 9 teams in a span of 2 days! Quick impressions: Fluke is campaigning hard to be POTY in the NESCAC (and 1st year line-mates Hlinka and Young are going to be a force for years to come); Young may be the ROTY. Hamilton is way better than their record indicates. I was impressed by Williams' 1st year Cleroux and her play against Bowdoin Saturday afternoon (a game which had eerie similarity to last season's NESCAC final for the unfortunate Polar Bears). The Conn College MASH unit seems to be emptying out (only saw 1 player on crutches and 1 with her arm in a sling on Saturday night); Conn gave Amherst all they could handle, especially in the 3rd, last night at Orr. Conn was in the Lord Jeff zone a lot in the 3rd and had Amherst back on their heels a bit; Dobbins saved the day, literally, with 2 spectacular saves back to back, just before Sullivan was able to scoop up a loose puck, go coast to coast, display great patience, get Fralick to move and slip the game winner into the net. Sorry to miss what should be another close one this afternoon (have to settle for the on line experience). The bottom line is this is an ultra competitive conference and come the playoffs the higher seeds cannot take anything for granted.

Having watched both the Middlebury/Hamilton games this weekend I would agree. Their defense and style of play were giving Middlebury fits all weekend. They need a little more organization on their offense. They are 6-1-1 out of conference.

Fun fact of the day. All of the NESCAC women's teams have a out-of-conference record above .500, except Williams.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Conn College: 3
Amherst: 0

Just saw the final score on the game. I guess we really do have to be watching them closely.

Good win for CC, but note that they got outshot 54-24. Even if this is the typical Amherst inflated SOG, it still appears to be really a goaltender win. But I do think that CC is a team to watch for the rest of the season.

Numbers are correct, but a couple of comments:

- look at who Hamilton played out of conference - Canton, Utica, St Mikes, Plymouth State, Oswego, Cortland, Potsdam. Not exactly a list of opponents to be feared. They don't even play Elmira who is just down the road from them. I would also guess that Hamilton's success against Middlebury might have something to do with the fact that their head coach was the Middlebury assistant coach for 3 years....
- Williams has a way harder out of conference schedule (but agree they should have done better) - Elmira, Castleton, Utica, Manhattanville, Adrian, St Olaf, Salve Regina, Sacred Heart - 2 top 10 teams.

And also Emily McNamara played at Middlebury too.

And played on the team for four with a 100-13-3 record.

True. I also don't think it helps the confidence of the mid-ranked teams (like Potsdam or Utica) playing the NESCAC teams to know they are in for a tough game, regardless of if you are playing #1 Middlebury or #9 Hamilton.

Goaltending was great for both teams...But Fralick the difference on Sunday...shots stats were a bit inflated, but she was very solid. First game should have been 1-1...tough play by D who inexplicably turned it over at center ice leading to a breakaway goal... Conn helped by the return of Izzi and Connolly...Izzi is really hitting her stride in her 2nd year...could get a spot on all-conf team. Should be interesting weekend with Midd in New London [with revenge of last year's tourney upset still fresh].

Great game tonight at Kenyon. Physical, intense battle. Midd showed a bit more emotion and looked like they wanted it a little more than Norwich.

Good chances for both sides. Both goalies made some good saves. Midd was a bit more dangerous offensively. Some good looking freshmen that should be impact players for awhile.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Great energy level from both teams. One of the best games I've seen the Panthers play. Prez got it right. A bit more emotion on the Panther side this time around. They played hard bell to bell. This should set them up well for two games at Conn College this weekend, but as Amherst learned, that's a tough place to get 4 points particularly if Midd has a post-Norwich let down. 2 against CC on the road followed by 2 (home and home) against Williams is a tough finishing stretch in NESCAC league play.

would be very surprised to see a Midd letdown in New London after the Conn OT win @ Kenyon last year that bounced the vaunted top-seed Panthers from the NCAA Tournament. That said, I would expect 2 fast, physical games this weekend at Dayton...Panthers favored as always but I would not be surprised to see a split.
