NESCAC season 2014-2015

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Midd 4-1 after 2. All 2nd period goals on the power play. Hard to say who scored with the lack of announcers and camera angle.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Any news on Ms Crofton's injury?
Interesting results this weekend in the NESCAC.

great comeback win in OT by the Kamels over Westy on Sat....The team is completely decimated by injuries [may have lost yet another FWD sat], lose game one 0-1 on tough goal late and just refuse to lose on Sat [despite some typical horrendous officiating...2 goals negated on the quickest whistles I've ever seen]....the puck was in the net on the first goal even before he blew the whistle, and still live [rebound] out front with a put-back goal on the 2nd...and the ref blows the whistle...honestly just incompetent officiating [par for the course I suppose].

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

BOwdoin gets smoked twice this weekend... I think we're up to 5 losses now...and stays at #10. Seriously?

That's just laughable.

Whom do you replace them with?

The vote difference between Bowdoin, Wisconsin-Superior, Lake Forest, Oswego, St. Norbert, and St. Thomas is so small that a #10 rank doesn't count for much. Saint Anselm (at 11-4-2) and Conn College (10-5-3) are overlooked. But none of those teams (or their schedule) strike me as an obvious replacement.

Injuries aside, Conn and Trinity are both better than Bowdoin...Williams too.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

We decided that the blizzard was going to win this one and we're going to watch the game from home.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Final at Kenyon is Midd 7 Potsdam 1
3rd period goals were 2 by Fluke and Sherman

Maybe Potsdam should have taken a snow-out instead of playing this one. They were outshot 52-12 and I'm guessing the Panthers probably just rolled their lines evenly too.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Here we are at about the mid-point of the NESCAC regular season. Looking at the current standings Amherst (6-0-2) remains the lone unbeaten, followed by Middlebury (7-1-2) with that pesky ding at the hands of Trinity back in the early part of the season. Conn College (5-3-2), Bowdoin (4-3-1), Williams (4-3-1) and Trinity (3-4-1) are struggling to gain home ice in the quarter final NESCAC round. Wesleyan (2-7-1), Hamilton (1-5-2) and Colby (2-8) are hoping not to be the team without a seat when the music stops on February 22. Conference statistics that surprise me are Middlebury 2nd with 7.5 penalty minutes per game and Amherst leading in team defense with a stingy 1.33 goals allowed per game. Amherst and Trinity play the majority of February at home and Bowdoin and Wesleyan will have to be road warriors to achieve success.
This weekend Wesleyan is off and the schedule features:
Bowdoin at Williams-former teammates Coach O'Neil and Coach Gillis square off; key could be injury to Polar Bear goalie Crofton (although what is her status?); safe to predict a split
Trinity at Colby-Mules are tough at home; split
Conn College at Amherst-have not seen an injury report on the Camels; Lord Jeffs need to hold serve to maintain hosting rights for NESCAC finals; Amherst sweep
Hamilton at Middlebury-Panthers sweep

It will be tough to keep my perfect forecasting record intact this week [lol] but here goes...

Bowdoin vs. Willy....will come down to goaltending...Willy not scoring much all year....I see 2 low scoring ties.
Trinity at Colby...Trinity should sweep but Colby getting goaltending and clutch play late in games...3 points for Trinity.
Conn at Amherst...at this point, Conn looks like a M*A*S*H ward- any Club team girls want to play?...will be lucky to get a point.
Hamilton at Middy...Sweep for the Pink Panthers.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Can someone confirm whether or not the Midd/Norwich game is Monday 2/2 or Tuesday 2/3. The NESCAC schedule has it for the 2nd. Both the teams sites have it being played on the 3rd.

Looking at the Middlebury women's hockey program from the 1/16-17 series against Amherst it is listed as 2/3 home against Norwich.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Midd 2 Hamilton 0 end of 2. Midd flying in 2nd. Shots in period 10-4. Fluke with both goals

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Middlebury came out flying after a lackluster 1st period and scored twice in the 2nd to overcome Hamilton by a 2-0 final. Fluke led the way for the Panthers, notching a goal and an assist, to reach the 100 point mark in the 98th game of her career. Jones was outstanding in goal for Midd earning her 10th career shutout.
The Continentals went toe to toe with the Panthers for the 1st, as both Jones and 1st year Hamilton goalie Walther were sharp. The Panthers broke through early in the 2nd on a disastrous Hamilton change. The puck came to Moreau in the neutral zone in front of the Hamilton bench; she fed to her right to Laven. The Continentals had all headed off ice as Fluke came on off the Midd bench; Laven spotted her the puck and she closed unopposed into the right wing circle before ripping a laser into the top of the net beating Walther up gloveside. A Panther power play goal closed out the scoring. Taking a feed from Watson at left point, Winslow had space off the left half boards and got a shot on net; Fluke had a put back of the initial save by Walther and then Young scored from the top of the crease up over Walther. The Continentals had back to back power play chances in the 3rd, but despite pressure on Jones in the Panther goal, came up scoreless. Coach McNamara got her goalie off for the extra attacker with just under 2 minutes to play but time ran out with the score a 2-0 win for Middlebury.
