NESCAC '15-'16 season

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

That would be my assessment as well. I recall not many years ago where Midd would play Wesleyan, Hamliton, and Conn College and win each game by 5 or more goals. The 5 - 0 win over Endicott last weekend has now become a rare and unusual event.

In addition to the goalies, the defense has gotten better. Both in terms of individual skills and strategy. So the team relying on their (single) hot shooter will find the player with more attention from the defense and be handcuffed. And the offensive strategy has changed to match.

Another attempt at predicting the unpredictable.....:)

Colby @ (6) Amherst. Lord Jeffs with the sweep of the Mules
Bowdoin @ (7) Middlebury. Panthers sweep the Bears
Hamilton @ Wesleyan Split 'em
Connecticut College @ Williams Split 'em. [will either team score?]

I agree with your thoughts.
The Conn@Williams and Hamilton@Wesleyan match ups are critical to all four of those teams in the eventual pecking order come tournament time. Colby and Bowdoin are both desperate for points and Amherst and Middlebury are looking at who is top dog and host for the festivities.

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

A weekend of sweeps!

Williams is becoming a real contender - feels a little like two years ago when they won the conference tournament and went to the NCAAs. Difference is they are generally goal challenged this season but their defense/goaltending is very strong - team 2 years ago was high scoring and more suspect defensively. Surprised they swept Conn this weekend. Big matchups at Amherst this weekend and Middlebury end of season (and they can't lose sight of a down but not out Trinity team).

Hamilton is probably the biggest surprise for me this season. Missing Katie Parkman since the 8th game (injury?) and they are still in 4th place. Still have Amherst, Midd, and Conn (and Bowdoin) left but this is a good season for them to date. A couple or 3 wins in the last 8 games and they end up in the middle of the pack.

Expected some more from Colby this season - can't seem to get any consistency. Not sure what the issue is there - they have some talent on the roster.

Williams is a very weird team...my assessment is very good defense, solid if not spectacular goalie, good size, and strong forwards who are tough but not really skilled...so they can dominate certain teams, but rarely score more than 2 goals [unless they can use their size to crash the net and get the greasy goal...which they can do if they are aggressive]. I don't think they are quite to the level of Amherst or Midd, but close [but then so is Conn and I still think Trinity is better than their record]. I have not seen Bowdoin, Colby or Hamilton, but I don't think those teams will finish in the top 4 spots...especially now that they will have to face the top teams over the next few weeks.

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

Wesleyan@Bowdoin-Polar Bears sweep their way into the middle of the pack
Colby@Trinity-3 points for the Bantams
Amherst and Williams home and home-Purple and White (the former Lord Jeffs) split with the Purple and Gold (aka the Ephs)
Middlebury@Hamilton-young Panthers start putting it together and sweep
Conn plays non-conference-beats Salve on the road and comes up short against St. As at home

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

Well...you got one out of five right....

Next few weeks will be very interesting...time to see who's for real and who's a pretender...Predicting Ammy and Midd to lock up 1 and 2 seeds, Trinity and Conn to move up, Hammy, Colby, and Bowdoin to move down.

No question it is a two team race for the top seed. A couple more wins pretty much assures Williams of third seed, unless someone in the Hamilton, Bowdoin, Conn, Trinity, Colby pack can run the table.
Tonight I like Williams, Middlebury, Conn and Hamilton (figure this may be the way to be better than 1/5).

Agree on tonite's picks....but I think you may be over-estimating Williams...just got swept by Amherst, and expect another sweep when they play Middy....I see them ending Conf play with a .500 record.

opps. there's that pesky Trinity team I keep talking bout......Conn and Trin are top 4 teams regardless of how they finish.

No... you're a top 4 team if you finish in the top 4, plain and simple. If you're a team with top 4 talent and don't finish in the top 4 then you're a disappointment.

No....actually you are a Top 4 team that mis-fired on a game or two [injuries, illness, freshman adjustments, etc.]...come playoff time, the real top 4 will be there.

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

well a total dumfuk like you wouldn't understand the logic so no explanation needed. Remember, putz, this is the nescac, where the games are all competitive from week to week, and the difference between winning and losing is razor thin.... not like the fluffy-fluff league where you play 4 tough games a year and coast the rest of the season. It's really not that uncommon for a lower seed to beat a higher seed come nescac playoff time....but u go and do u, ok, Spanky? :(

Yep...those NESCAC teams are soo good...and so competitive with each other while being 2-8-2 vs top 10 teams outside the NESCAC.

Do you really think it's necessary to name call and curse on a public forum?
