He called it a hoax AND said it will die off in warmer weather. On top of glutting the agencies tasked with combatting an outbreak. Maybe that's not a sign of doing nothing but all that gives you confidence the response will be robust?

H1N1 went well into the summer months with resurgences. That was no fun. I have no idea what to think but the CDC guy was adamant that no assumptions should be made. I think that was in direct response to the statements being made by the President. I think it will be interesting to see if it hits the southern hemisphere where they are in Summer.

Who needs to root for anything? They tell people it is a hoax. The idiots believe it and go to a rally for their President God and .... poof.

He does this with everything. He makes multiple conflicting statements, incoherent in total, but great for soundbites. If you watch any of the pressers (not recommended, I swear they cause bits of your brain to die off) he is totally incoherent but if you have the misfortune to watch Faux News they jumble things around to make a coherent message. It is like magic. The talking heads have a smorgasbord of little soundbites they can cherry pick from for their particular sect.

My daughter teaches junior high in AZ. Because it primarily affects older people with health problems the kids in her class are calling coronavirus "The Boomer Plague." :)
