NCAA Tournament Selection and Seeding

WCHA fans don't really seem to want to talk up or own Ohio State. I think they're one of ours. ;)
Back in 2004, before UW knew how to spell NCAA Tournament, fans of UMD and UM would tell anyone who would listen that Wisconsin was a very tough team. East fans weren't convinced. When UW lost to Dartmouth in a 2005 quarter, the Big Green fans thought they were being disrespected when Gopher fans were relieved at not having to play the Badgers for a sixth time. We talked up UW back then; they sure as heck don't need us to do it these days. OSU also no longer needs Gopher fans to tell people that they are good; if you don't know it, you soon will. As for owning the Buckeyes, why would we do that? They aren't our team. We're not like TTT, who thinks he can attach himself to Northeastern, or Clarkson, or any surviving East team whenever he likes.

In all fairness, rooting for bc women's hockey is similar to being Minnesota professional sports fans, who have basically only known epic futility so I cut him some slack.

But you're using logic and empathy, where I only remember him taunting us in our thread in 2011 after that epic 10-minute meltdown.

But you're using logic and empathy

I should probably stop doing that as I don't have a subscription to use those.

where I only remember him taunting us in our thread in 2011 after that epic 10-minute meltdown.

Most of us, on here, are now at the age where we are lucky to remember what we had for breakfast. You are doing very well to remember that far back.

Since he first appeared in 2006-07, TTT has been hard to forget.
ARM, was that the year when he and his bud Joe traveled to Ridder for the NCAA's? And the ushers told TTT to stop playing his trumpet? Ah, fun memories!

TTT came for a regular season series -- in 07-08. BC came to Ridder for NCAA's in '09, and the Gophers had the game under control until MLam got a CFB major and game misconduct halfway through and it turned into a nail biter. Then our goalie got food poisoning and we couldn't stop anything in the semi vs Mercyhurst. What a waste of a roster that year was.

I think two are playing tomorrow. WCHA fans don't really seem to want to talk up or own Ohio State. I think they're one of ours. ;)
Uh-huh. As evidenced by the "awesome support" Eastern Hockey gave our Men's Frozen Four in 2005?

I'm taking your comment as light-hearted rather than malicious. But it is silly talk.

And as for "I think two are playing tomorrow. WCHA fans don't really seem to want to talk up or own Ohio State", I just did.

I don't think either UW poster is treating OSU they are Providence or BC. OSU scares the crap out of me and I've posted it all other the threads since the tourney was posted. Win or lose today for OSU, the wwcha has become the big 3 instead of the big 2.

Thanks for the compliment! It's amazing what Muzzy has done to build up the program and get players when our women's arena is so substandard.
It wasn't even regulation length until they took out most of the south stands so they could add enough new boards to make it regulation. And don't even think about a high clearing attempt in there!

I knew PGB would not stand for OSU being claimed by the east, lol.

Game day! I remember 2 years ago NU ended up not having Mueller for their NCAA game due to a wrist injury, then last year cancelled. Must be so pumped to play.

very curious to see what this game looks like.

Men play hockey?

(Maybe everybody already knows this one, but in case not...)

Your know how the profiles of players at the teams' web site will list other family members who play or played hockey, or other sports, etc. A couple years ago, St Cloud had a back-up goalie named Taylor Crosby. And in Taylor's profile at the St Cloud web site, it mentioned that "Older brother Sidney also plays hockey."

Yes, that Sidney Crosby.

Question if you please....obviously this is a target market segment for women’s hockey, but is it for women’s athletics overall? Myself, I pretty much only watch pro football for a men’s sport, and follow women’s golf, soccer, hockey (pro & amateur), skiing, and softball with a bit of lacrosse and field hockey(talk about wacky rules)....what say you gentlemen?
I ask because I am in contact with some of those that continually ask about increasing women’s athletics, visibility and inclusion...yes, sponsors are needed yet the key is visibility! If every banner on any sports channel would show women’s results as they do men...that alone would make the fact that women play as often and as wide a variety as men do to the public!!
Only ESPNU does that now, aside from the odd Serena or other high profile athlete.....and it doesn’t count when the network has a vested interest...(ESPN w/WNBA).......
I would’ve given this it’s own thread but you gents are the dedicated few who not only this week, but annually believe, enjoy and respect women athletics!! I wanted your unique perspectives....enjoy today’s games!! Thanks, Zoofer

I'm a "chauvinist" sports fan, in the more classic "geographic" and not "sexist" meaning of the word; men vs women makes no difference to me, but if there is a Wisconsin - university or state - rooting interest involved, I'm likely in. Live in Madison, attend UW football, women's hockey, women's volleyball, some men's hockey, some softball, occasional men's basketball, Packer fan, Brewer fan (not so much NBA, even with the Bucks being good).

I hope that's what you're looking for.

This was actually a revelation to my oldest daughter, who we started taking to games at LaBahn when she was 3. She later saw her grandpa watching the Stanley Cup playoffs on TV and started talking to him about the players. "Mommy! Mommy! Boys play hockey, too!"

So incredibly cute. We have this at our house too. 4 year son wants to know if boys can play soccer.

Thanks robertearle......I’m somewhat like that with UNH but since the McCloskey incident with the women’s team, the moves of the AD Scarano have almost eviscerated any emotions I’ve got for my alumni! He’s totally vacated the booster clubs of both hockey teams, (men’s Friends group founded in 1968!), but somehow football has theirs, the only sport to still have one!
