NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

Maybe this game will be the rodentette's Holy Cross game. :O

March 24, 2006 #16 Holy Cow 4 - #1 MN 3 in one of the most famous half-fast effort the boys are famous for but the girls have mostly avoided. These are things no Gopher fan should forget. If I were the men's coach the inside of the locker room door would be blue & white:
3-24-06
4 - 3

OTOH, I have never seen the women sleepwalk through whole periods unless they had at least a 6 goal lead and I expect Saturday is sticking in their craw. It could be ugly for RIT if they decide to "get even" for that experience. Interesting note, two-thirds of all the losses MN suffered this year were at the hands of BSU

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

Leaving the grocery store today I spotted a person wearing an RIT hoodie. So there is at least one potential fan of the Tigers lurking here in Gopher territory.

Years ago I saw Michigan Tech fans wearing plastic caps that had bills in the shape of a pig's snout. I have also seen fans of some Western team at the Grey Cup wearing taxidermied bisons' heads on their shoulders.

Be glad it's only hoodies.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

RIT has made a great run, but I don't see the Gophers getting knocked out of the NCAA Tournament at home in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Good luck to both teams. Get after it, Gophers!

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

I'm looking forward to bringing all three dimensions this weekend.

That is part of what led to my bold prediction. It's going to be interesting to watch but I think the Gophers are going to be on a very intense mission to send a message to the whole country that they mean business for the NCAA tournament.

We can only hope your "bold prediction" proves to not to be so bold. But I would "settle" for:

a) A dominating offensive performance from the first line, with whatever contributions lines 2 & 3 can provide
b) Our usual steady D, who also heavily contribute to the offense, whenever opportunities present themselves, and
c) Solid goaltending from #29...

If we get all of those things + intensity, the outcome will not be in doubt.

keep in mind a bold prediction is when you are as sure as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west

and then the exact opposite happens

oh, and technically it is a Brooky Bold Prediction :p

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

Anyone know if/where this game will be streamed?

I believe it is free from the NCAA, but produced by the school's local set-up/announcers.

Frozen four will probably be free NCAA with NCAA'a announcers.

Alright, thanks. The bracket clearly says that Frozen Four will be streamed on ncaa.com, but doesn't say anything about the quarters so I wasn't sure.

Was it the Wisconsin quarterfinal last year that had "cool Jazz" as it's audio for the first period or so?

Q'finals aren't showing up on the NCAA live video events schedule for the 14th.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

I see RIT drew over 1000 fans a number of times throughout the year and one game did 3000 for some kind of hockey day special promo. They must be close to the top drawing women's hockey team out east.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

Hopefully, we'll give those kids a good crowd to play in front of ;)

Quarters the last 2 years attendance has been 2606 and 2750. Be nice to be in that range again this year.
I was a little late buying mine, and tickets where I like to sit are marked as "unavailable". Here is the map showing where tickets are still available, or not (click on any section):

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: RIT @ Minnesota

I don't think the Gophers need 160 shot on goal to score 10 goals against RIT. I recognize and respect what Binnington has done for RIT and what she means to their program but if the Gophers come out firing on all cylinders as I think they will then they'll be in RIT's zone for 85+% of the game. Being under that much pressure for that long is going to lead to exhaustion, breakdowns and penalty trouble that will be capitalized on.

I was being a bit sarcastic when I said bold because of the reaction of a few people. I probably should have said "bold" instead. I honestly don't think it's that bold. I think it's a very realstic outcome for the Gophers.....if they come out and play at a certain level right from the outset.

Although season ticket holders who don't buy, their seats get released tomorrow. Can't imagine there can be more than one or two of those!

Be nice if it's at least 2500 for the game. We did 2.7k and 2.5k for UMD and 2k and 2.3k for Ohio State. So actually, since St Lawrence we've been doing pretty good.
