Liberty is well known for their aerospace historic renovation program. Graduates get jobs at various airplane museums to lead historic renovations. As well as museums sending their planes to Liberty to be worked on.

So, uh, we just not going to talk about the situation at Arizona State?

A player is in a coma after a preseason workout and now Adam Wodon is talking on social media about how ASU might not play this season.

(I did look, there’s no discussion on the D1 side either)

Yeah it’s a pretty terrible situation. Sounds like he isn’t expected to make much of a recovery, but that’s according to the family’s attorney.

The real big red flag that can get ASU and the coaching staff is huge trouble are the reports that water was withheld during this military-style workout lead by a former green beret.

If true, burn them all. How fucking stupid do you have to be to do this in 2026?

I think the fact that ASU’s athletic department has completely closed ranks and gone radio silence is concerning.

As I said on the THG Discord, everyone is shutting up and lawyering up. ASU is in 'Delay, Deny, Defend, Depose' mode. This is going to end up dragged out in the courts for months.

I’m sourcing this from ASU flaired Reddit posts, so grain of salt, but it seems like ASU is pretty notorious for trying to let scandals run until the press coverage dies out without doing anything.

Sadly, they’re likely to get away with this unless the NCAA decides to get involved. I doubt that the NCHC could actually do anything.

If ASU staff actually ran these workouts from an official standpoint, they are hosed. They will not be playing hockey this year. And that's the least of their worries. Actual criminal charges could be enacted.

I am confident that if it were a football player in this situation, this would already be in the state-level press (possibly even national) and there would be a formal investigation launched.

Because it's not a revenue sport, they're delaying and hoping it blows over. That's why the family has already retained a firebrand.

Oh it would be all over ESPN if it was football.

I can see two ways that this blows up:

1. A player revolt. I could see the players at ASU being upset enough about this situation that they refuse to play. Probably a bit of a long shot but it’s possible. Correct me if I’m wrong, but there’s nothing stopping a player from jumping back to a CHL team (besides age obviously) and then going to a different school next year right? It’d take 10-12 players doing something like that but it’s possible.

2. The NHL gets involved. For as shitty as the NHL can be I doubt they’d like their draft picks ruined by institutions with shitty practices.

Was this an official team activity or was this just part of "voluntary" Captain's Practices?

That's the part that I'm hung up on. It sounds like an asinine setup, but legally, ASU may have a way out here.

Nobody knows for sure but it seems like it was an official team activity.

Hard to see how ASU doesn’t come out saying it wasn’t official immediately if that was the case. Highly doubt they’re such altruists.
