NCAA Hockey - 2023/24 **Insert Witty Tagline**

You think so? While never researching name recognition, I always figured that MacCallester was the biggest name due to Kofi Annan having graduated from there.

Mac, Carleton and Olaf are all better academically overall. Might be a few programs rated higher at gustavus and Gustavus is a fine institution.

if I wanted to go to a private school, Olaf all the way. No one compares to those kids coming out of graduation in regards to hiring. The year that Bain, McKinsey, etc showed up at career fair was a sad year for me because I knew the secret was out. The Olaf grads were leaps and bounds ahead of everyone. For over a decade that was consistent. Better than Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, GW, Cornell

haha and yes Olaf patron saint of rose nyland doesn’t hurt either

Said somewhat in jest as it's a family thing. To be fair to GAC every person I've known to have gone there has done very well for themselves after graduation, they have a gorgeous campus and setting, and it's a short drive to the TC.

They recently added a new 53,000-square-foot fieldhouse, expanded their Health and Exercise Science department, just added their first masters degree program (St. Olaf, Mac and Carlton have none) and expanded several of their science departments to the tune of $70 million. DGF isn't wrong about where they likely fall ratings wise, but depending on your field of study you wouldn't miss out going there.

Also while the men's hockey team has been bad for years, the lady pucksters recently won a title. :)

The only Olaf grad I have met was remarkably intelligent. Business intelligent, which is boring, but within her lane as sharp as any Wharton or Harvard MBA dou-che.

Didn't hurt that she was a statuesque blonde, either. The kind who at 50 is still a stunner. In her day I'm sure she was short skirt / long jacket.

;n3897236]Going to be interesting next week when NCAA votes on CHL eligibility
Good.

The old heads probably won’t like it but it’s good for the future. It creates a larger pool of players to recruit from and can more easily enable potential new programs while potentially helping existing programs to improve.

It will be interesting. The average CHL player is superior to the average D-1 player in gifts, but is younger and less developed. The average CHL player is also not academically inclined or able, but that should not matter for most of the factory schools.

A bunch of kids won't have to decide irrevocably on their future when they are 16, and that is good. You'll see kids who would have gone the USHL route seek the better competition in the CHL figuring if they are a cut below pro level they can circle around to an NCAA degree. Actually, it might really f-ck up the USHL.

And you'll see some very confused freshmen who drop the gloves and have their whole team jump them so they don't get a unilateral major. :-)

Yeah, I feel this is a much bigger issue for Junior A leagues. Kind of wonder if the USHL develops their own compensation plan and morphs into an American CHL to remain competitive.

It really depends on if the CHL will allow players out of their contracts early. If not, then I think it would mostly be overagers. If they do, then I think CHL and USHL become the same and top drafted players will then do 1-2 ncaa years.

Q can drop down to Community College level and offer 2-year AA degrees.

Well, I do know that it would make it significantly easier for Simon Fraser to move and that would be three western teams with three more to go.

Our new head coach spent the previous 7 seasons as a head coach in the CHL, the last three of which he was also the GM. He’s got his list of CHL prospects on speed dial waiting for the GO signal. Like you said, this will provide opportunities to teams who have had zero chance of ever landing an NTDPer.

Gopher tv schedule out, 16 games on Fox 9. Also a new half hour pregame show before home games with Jim rich and pat Micheletti.

anyone else remember the weekly half hour college hockey show Jim rich did back in the day? I think would have been mid 90s
