NCAA Hockey - 2023/24 **Insert Witty Tagline**

I thought the reffing was fine

I don’t think either game was bad enough to decide the outcome, but I could see how BU getting a PP or two on a couple of pretty clear holds or interference calls they let go might change things.

Overall though I think slowly and mechanically DU figured BU out and started making adjustments at about the halfway mark. At that point they started jumping into passing lanes that were previously uncontested and began giving the Terriers some fits.

100% agree. It was like watching a diesel generator kick in.

Just slowly became unstoppable by the end for the game.

Someone should pass a hat around and see if they can fly in an ECAC crew.

I thought I heard them say before the first game that there were NCHC, B1G and ECAC crews on hand, which makes sense with two HEA teams in the Frozen Four. Logic dictates that they would save the ECAC crew for the title game, if those were the three they had.

Given how many chances Denver got for "ok" calls, just getting that one obvious tripping call would have been nice. And later, the knee on knee should have been at least reviewed. Nobody batted an eye over that.

There were plenty of chances that BU could have gotten to at least *try* a PP, but the refs ignored them.

What's the point of having rules if they are not enforced?

I agree that Denver figured out BU. and the BU goalie really kept them in the game. But not giving BU a single chance on some pretty easy calls....

Yeah, assuming hockey is done like the other sports, they sent three crews who were already assigned their game. It’s not like the officials are having their own competition for best crew that moves from the semi to the final.

Hockey East was out because they were going to be or possibly going to be involved in all three games. I don’t know if the AHA guys ever get a shot at the Frozen Four so this really came down to ECAC vs CCHA for the championship game.

Rumor confirmed by kare11

it was Edina. Lmao.

Ferris has done this at the last two GLIs, but that’s during winter break. And it happens occasionally in the basketball tournament, either by super small schools or schools on academic break with band students on vacation (Yale this year), but how does this happen to Denver? They’re not on break, this is their sport, and it’s the Frozen Four, not regionals halfway across the country.

A few years ago, an AHA crew did one of the Frozen Four games.

I mean, Denver is basically just a rich hockey and finance school. I would be mildly surprised to find out Denver has even a marching band. They just aren't that type of school.

they've never had a band in any of the frozen fours I've been to. It's always piped in. Usually the only team that does that, but not always.

I thought Denver was an Arts & Science college. i.e., an actual college, awash in a sea of STEM voc schools and Business nurseries.

Thursday ratings Boston College vs Michigan - 373,000
Studio show between games - 248,000
Boston University vs Denver - 232,000

Per Reddit it sounds like they haven’t had a pep band since COVID and before that it was sporadic and not very formal. Also learned there that not only does CC not have a band, they don’t even have a fight song.

Can’t find Beanpot ratings, so with that unavailable I’m gonna guess that MSU-UM on Easter will be the most watched game at 569k. Past numbers show Denver doesn’t pull much in the way of ratings and BC doesn’t as much as I thought they would.

Minnesota is a boon to ratings, and oddly enough Duluth is the next biggest ratings getter, though that is likely a coincidence being paired with two giant fan bases in Michigan and Notre Dame.

I’m biased but I think St. Paul beats Tampa for weather this year. 90 and humid last year sucked for walking around. 75 and sunny with a slight breeze is my dream

Cubans aren’t as good, though. Although now that I mention it the one from Tony O’s at Target Field is legitimately a very good one.

Completely agree.

i won't buy tickets on Tampa for political reasons. But even aside from that, Tampa is just fine. I don't see a compelling reason to go back every year or two.

last year was melt your brain hot. No thanks.

plus, there's not a ton to do there. Really no different from St. Paul unless you love sitting on a beach.
