National Semi-Final April 9 BU vs Sioux (revenge for 1997)

Re: National Semi-Final April 9 BU vs Sioux (revenge for 1997)

At least the Garden won't be a morgue. The best traveling team and the home team. Should be fun

This should be a fun two weeks.

Mookie just hopes we get a crew that are not afraid to call penalties.

If we had that in manchvegas the Bulldogs (plural) would have spent the entire game shorthanded

I thought in the west regional in particular as well, the refs didn't call as much as they might have. I think that favors teams that play a defensive style like PC for instance, or Lowell. They count on not getting called and getting a retaliation penalty instead.

Didn't BU play their regional about 50 miles from Boston?

Sioux can play their games a couple hundred miles from campus and still be solidly IN Sioux country.

BU can move 2 miles from campus and be in the middle of enemy territory.

Apples and oranges

Yes, more or less. In a different state, in a regional hosted by a conference rival. Not the same. Not many other schools can play in their hometown and have a large amount of local fans in the building cheer for them to lose, which could easily happen this Frozen Four.

I'm still surprised BC won't be there.

A team that loses 1-0 at home to Vermont in the HE quarters doesn't deserve it. The striking thing about the Eagles is that, at least offensively, they did not get better as the year went on. My BC friends tell me that they will be better next year. Who knows.

Exactly- ND hosted their regional and had huge support. Despite the fact that BU fans traveled well, it was still rival territory.

Also, this might not be obvious, but most of the students at BU don't have cars so it can be tough for them to travel to games outside of T-accessible schools. I know that was the case for me and a lot of my friends.

Do you really expect this to happen? I'm sure there will be some die-hard BC, Northeastern, UNH, etc. fans showing up just because they're college hockey fans but I don't see large swaths of Superfans coming to the Garden to cheer against BU. I'd be shocked if it didn't feel like a Beanpot final, except with more BU supporters and lots of neutrals.

No I don't. Boston is very provincial and they will cheer for their own. BC fans won't show up just to cheer against BU. They just won't show up...
