First off, congrats to Mankato for playing with a ton of heart and character all weekend. Had they won tonight, I would be a huge Mankato fan during the final five. Cook was outstanding all weekend.
I think Lee won the starting job from here on out. The first goal appeared to be soft, but he was solid both nights and kept us in it. He just seems to be making some big saves that Dunn hasn't been able to make.
Mankato is a very solid team whose record isn't indicitave of where they finished. This weekend was a huge character check for our guys, and hopefully will be a springboard for the final five.

It seems like every year, Mankato is "playing well at the right time." They're "the team nobody wants in the first round." They "gave us all we could handle, you should be proud."
And we go home early again. All three games were one-goal games. Two of them in overtime. And we go home early again.

No kidding. The Mavs always bring their A game when they play SCSU, no matter what their record is. It feels good to be on the winning side for once. Had the matchups been slightly different, I wonder how they would have fared against UW?

I think they will both last to the jr year match up but I think at least one of them (Lee) is going to be gone by sr year.

No doubt. I would rather people just kick us while we're down at this point. The "you did so well" stuff is like someone taking that knife, twisting it around and then stabbing us in the heart 2 or 3 more times.

Two answers....we would have gotten our asses handed to us against UW. Just a feeling. We gave up an average of 70 shots to them last year in the playoff series and gave up upwards of 50 when we played in Madtown earlier this year.
As for playing tough, our boys had 19 1-goal games this year and 3 ties. We've been on the cusp of making a run like this all year. We're getting used to coming up just short, unfortunately.
